Spring might be a few months off still (we still have to make it through the worst of the Winter months in CT) but I thought I would brighten you day with some lovely news from Skinny la Minx – the latest Skinny laMinx collaboration for the 2014 year of design monthly collaboration project…..
Wallpaper has been on Heather Moore’s to-do list for quite some time, as her simple textile designs are perfectly suited for wall coverings. In fact, some of the Skinny laMinx designs started out as hand-cut wall stickers before ever appearing on fabrics. In line with Skinny laMinx’s WDC2014 theme of cross-pollination, Moore approached leading local wallpaper company and surface design trail blazer, Robin Sprong, to team up on a collection of made-to-order Skinny laMinx wall coverings.
Over the years, Moore and the Skinny laMinx team has been keeping an eye on Sprong’s business, impressed with his high quality wallpaper and printing. They also liked the fact that company’s international print partnerships mean that a wallpaper collection with Robin Sprong will be accessible to Skinny laMinx fans in selected countries outside of South Africa. Sprong was attracted to Moore’s distinct artwork and fresh colour palette.
“The strong, bold designs hold a timeless character, while their simplicity allows anyone to mix them in with their own style of interior without being overpowered,” explains Sprong.
The collection is a celebration of shape, colour and composition, showcasing a selection of Moore’s much-loved designs including: Orla, Duikers, Brancusi Stripe, Wild Flowers, Bowls, Woodpile and Flower Fields. Sprong has recently started using a new type of pre-gummed wallpaper that is PVC free, 100% recyclable, and is printed with non-toxic latex inks. Exciting news is that the Skinny laMinx collection wallpaper is made to order and can be made to suit any size specifications!
The Skinny laMinx for Robin Sprong Wallpaper collection is made to order and retails at R450.00 per square meter and orders can be placed with Robin Sprong Wallpaper. And from the looks of all the pretty colours and floral inspired designs one might say that “Spring has Sprong” early this year!
