Winter in the Woods: Trends from Poetry & Old Khaki

On Tuesday I popped in to discover what PoetryOld Khaki stores have in line for us this winter. The Winter 2014 theme for both stores collections is to do with the forest so the location of the event, The Woodlands Eatery in Vredehoek, was particular apt and really added to the wintery mood of the clothes and complemented the muted tones of the colour palette for both collections – greys, plums, maroons, reds, charcoals, khaki and navy

Forest Fable from Poetry

I recently mentioned how I am a new convert to Poetry clothing and must admit I am now hooked… And the winter collection is really exciting. Lots of fashionable, comfort coming your way!

Poetry revealed beautiful pieces with lovely details and textures such as delicate embroidery, diamond quilting, jacqard detail and cable knits. I loved their relaxed parka jackets, floral influence, pretty blouses and fab range of knitwear, I’m especially keen on the pretty grey studded jersey shown below and always their scarves, a winter wardrobe staple!

Janine Catlin, buying manager for Poetry, says, “Shapes have become more fitted in 2014, as opposed to the oversized look of previous seasons, but the layered effect is still key with longer length blouses peeping out underneath regular length knitwear pieces, worn with a relaxed jacket. Looks are completed with structured pieces in soft fabrics.”

Forest Bound from Old Khaki

Old Khaki has some really fun, quirky pieces in their collection, such as the Scandi-inspired eyelash knitwear, plus some great classic pieces such as a variety of coats and jackets – an amazing range that features something for everyone! I’m in love with the super soft lamb napa leather biker jacket!!  The collection features lots of texture and interesting detailing.

“This season it is all about pairing that coated denim with a worker boot and a beanie, balancing out all aspects of our own personality; layering pieces in our own unique way to communicate our personal style.” – Janine Catlin, buying manager for Old Khaki

Old Khaki clothing allows you to be the person you choose to be! It is well made, durable and affordable, it may not make a statement, but it allows you to do that yourself!

I’m so looking forward to winter after seeing these beautiful clothes. Winter weekends relaxing with friends on a getaway or lounging around at home have just got super comfortable AND fashionable!

The Winter 2014 collections for Poetry and Old Khaki will be available in stores across South Africa, and online from late April 2014.
