WIN: Lunch for 2 at La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect setting for enjoying an alfresco meal than La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek.

The views from the terrace of sweeping lawns, verdant vineyards and majestic mountains transport you to another time and place… one where the worries of the world are far removed from your current reality!

This is a special place. In fact it’s special for many people across the globe who come here to celebrate life and all it’s special occassions or even just ordinary days worth celebrating!

La Petite Ferme is an icon in the Franschhoek valley and a place that draws you back after your first visit.

My first visit was almost 7 years ago when we spent a weekend “babymoon” just before the arrival of our daughter. We visited a month before our wedding anniversary (good thing too because she arrived 2 weeks early and only 5 days after our anniversary!)

We loved spending some special time together enjoying the delights of the Franschhoek valley (OK not ALL the delights, I was pregnant!) The highlight of our weekend away was our lunch at La Petite Ferme. Arriving early we enjoyed a drink of bubbles (mine were Appletizer) on a bench overlooking the view. The View! It can’t quite be captured in words how beautiful this view actually is…. I think that’s because it changes as you watch it. The light capturing different aspects of it as it sweeps across the valley. Not to mention the way it changes with the seasons of the year. It really is incredible and worth a visit alone…

Except that the view is not all that La Petite Ferme has to offer..

They also offer exquisite guest accommodation, multi-award winning fine wines and a restaurant listed as one of the top 15 ‘Best Value’ establishments in the world by Condé Nast Traveller!

The cuisine is made from the freshest locally sourced produce by Chefs Neethling du Toit and Tanya Rousseau and the menu is made up of uncomplicated dishes filled with natural flavours.

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!

I generally struggle to fit in dessert.. and on this note, I do however love to be different. So, as we’re allowed a #starter and #main – I’d like to have ‘dessert’ if I can call it that, for my starter seeing as it’s on the starters menu..
My starter would be the Hannepoot-poached Pear, served warm with gorgonzola, walnut and rocket and my mains would be Fillet of Beef with truffle infused cauliflower purée, thyme roasted mushrooms, potato fondant and merlot sauce (I had to decide between this and the Aubergine wrapped lamb! 🙂
