Bastille is back!
The award-winning British rock band will be performing in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg this October.
The last time the British rockers were on South African soil, in 2014, they played to sold out crowds and rave reviews.
Now, with the launch of their second album, Wild World, they’ll be back as part of their Wild, Wild World Tour. The DNA of Bastille’s music is pulled from the nostalgic synth-pop beats of the 80s to harder notes of rock and their latest album is a fusion of all these styles.
Bastille’s first performance will be held in Cape Town on 4 October at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World. Then Durban will get their fun on 6 October, ending off the tour in Johannesburg on 7 October.
Bastille shot to fame in 2013 when their debut album Bad Blood was Britain’s biggest-selling digital album for the year. The single Pompeii was the most streamed song of all time in the UK and spent a staggering 92 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 and amassing over 400 million views on YouTube.
Bastille has sold over 5 million records in the US and 2.5 million records in the UK.
“We had such an incredible time playing in Cape Town and Johannesburg a few years ago, so we can’t wait to head back again with some new music and a date in Durban as well.”
The inclusion of Durban will make for a special visit for the indie pop sensations, with frontman Dan Smith having a close affiliation with the coastal city as his parents met and found love in Durban shortly before crossing the Atlantic to settle in London, England.
In 2013, the band released a single penned by Smith, titled Durban Skies as a tribute to the city and love story of his parents. Smith, along with Bastille, will perform in Durban for the very first time, undoubtedly in front of many ecstatic fans.
The great news for Bastille fans (and Becoming you readers) is that I have 2 x tickets to giveaway to each of the Bastille concerts happening around SA in Oct – Cape Town, Durban AND Johannesburg!
