Life is so darn chaotic and crazy isn’t it?? How on earth are we all surviving this madness? I’m pretty sure we’re all meant to be living a MUCH slower pace of life? It certainly isn’t doing our stress levels or mental health any good rushing around like we do, let alone our physical health.
I’m reminded just how life is meant to be lived every time I get away for a night, or a weekend, in the country…
Here life seems to be lived at a reasonable pace. No traffic or taxi’s. No back-to-back meetings or chock-a-block calendars. Just quiet walks in the fresh air, slow meals, cups of tea. Time to read, smell the roses, watch the sunset.
Of course not everyone can opt out of city life and escape to the country BUT the good news is that everyone can get away from it all by planning a night or a weekend away occasionally.
A night away is a snooze button in our busy lives.
A weekend away is a reset button!
We try to get away for a few days every few months. An escape to the country is always lovely but it’s equally fun to spend a night in another part of the city – a break in routine is what it’s about!
It’s so important to take a break, leave your usual 9-5 or weekend routine and slooooow things down.
Spending quality time together as a couple or just hanging with our kids with no plans or agenda, doing fun things, enjoying good food and having conversations that otherwise never happen.
A getaway is so good for our marriages and family relationships. Nothing bonds people together like traveling together and spending uninterrupted time enjoying each other’s company!
Equally a little bit of solo time is also a treat, especially for us moms! It’s so important to remember to prioritize our mental health and individual identity and sometimes do something that’s just for us!
Today I’m thrilled to be partnering with Accommodation Direct to give one lucky Becoming you reader the chance to WIN a travel voucher worth R1500 towards a getaway of their choice! I would love to treat my beautiful getaway like the Sea Star Rocks in Camps Bay… We haven’t been able to have a honeymoon.
It does look like the perfect honeymoon spot
I would a seaside getaway. Mu husband is an avid fisherman and our boys just love tag along with him. This way, I get to relax, while they go fish. Win-win I say.
What a great idea!
Would love to go on holiday with my family, and I have not gone on holiday in a long time and can do with a little time away and enjoying time away. Holding thumbs! There are a million ways I could use this. Gosh. #mommyneedsaholiday
All moms need a holiday, every day!!! Haha. Good luck!
I would love to take my boyfriend to Elgin Hills Luxury Tented Camp. He loves camping and I love luxury so I think glamping in such a beautiful setting would be the perfect weekend getaway 🙂
Definitely need a break with my fiance…Raising our one-year-old is the most rewarding & most challenging experience! What a lovely prize <3
I would love to go to Cape Town with hubby and stay in a sea vir Camps Bay apartment. We are the people that like to see the sea even if we can’t swim in it. We want to do a day of wine tasting and eat our way through Cape Town.
I love Cape Town but haven’t been there in years. The camps bay getaway looks like a dream! Would be amazing to win this, holding fingers.
I would love to take the wife and kiddies away… somewhere with lots of nature and close to the mountains.. or even go “snow”hunting.. they would love it.
I love Cape Town but haven’t been there in years. The camps bay getaway looks like a dream! I’d take my sister because we don’t live in the same city anymore and I never get to see her. Would be amazing to win this, holding fingers.
Honestly I don’t mind any kind of getaway as I haven’t had 1 in over 5 years. I could really use some time away and this prize could really help me out ☺
The Camps Bay, Cape Town ones look amazing – that scenery isn’t absolutely heaven! I think any one of those places would really relax the most stressed individual – & my hubby & I know a thing or two about being stressed!(unfortunately) . Honestly, it’s a difficult choice to decide, all of the places look like we need to go there!
I would love a romantic getaway, with my husband. ???
I would love to visit my friend who has moved to JHB, she misses home and can’t home to Cape Town right now. So a suprise visit would be a real treat.
I would love a country getaway to just getaway from everything with my daughter
Anywhere by the Sea
Anywhere that a mom and dad can go on a little getaway a bit is a blessing..but I have to say that the Lebanon Citrus Resort in Clan William looks amazing and so cute and quaint. Haven’t had weekend away alone with hubby for the past 3 years so this could be interesting!
I would definitely want to go to Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam.
I would book a beach holiday in cape town and go with my bf
wow definitely Sea Star Rocks, Camps Bay, Cape Town sharing @matrixalive twitter facebook, thea kleynhaus lennox google+ thea lennox
I would love to take my two sons up the West Coast or along the Overberg, for some much needed R&R. Somewhere out of the hustle and bustle would be amazing. A place with heated pools would be a bonus 🙂 Ah, but a girl can dream ?
I would love to treat my gorgeous family to an amazing getaway.
Definitely Durban with hubby.
I love the arty type of getaway. Especially this one called Festina Lente Guesthouse. The interior looks amazing! https://www.accommodirect.com/listing/10793 Love to thank my besties with 😀
One would definitely assume that a staycation is away from the city but I love being in a area close to the city but feels like it is miles away and Sea Star Rocks, Camps Bay, Cape Town ticks all of the boxes for me. I would definitely take my sister along with me to have a sisters weekend after the month of Ramadan.
I would love to go to a place that has activities for kids like a pool, games room, outdoor play area and a trampoline as I have 3 little boys that really need a holiday … I would go with my hubby and my kids to just spend some well needed quality time especially cause We’ve been living with my parents for the past year and we would love to just spend time as our little family together
I’d love to go on holiday with my son because they recently lost their granddad. This was a very sad time for them both as they were absolutely close to him. A seaside getaway would be perfect for them.
The Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam looks good, for a nice weekend away with my husband.
A place in Magaliesberg not to far to drive …I want to experience a high tea …breakfast made for me …and just relax and catch up with my hubby we work so hard and don’t spend quality time together
I would love to win a stay at Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam because the last time we went to clanwilliam my dad suffered an horrendous stroke up the mountain and the whole experience was very traumatic for us -my hubby(BF at the time) ran up and down that mountain 4 times to get my dad water and food. It would be great to experience clanwilliam without the drama with my hubby and newborn baby
Probably a weekend away with my husband to 62 Camps Bay, Camps Bay, Cape Town.
I would love a country getaway to somewhere like Dullstroom. Red wine, a fire and lazy days trout fishing and exploring – heaven!
I would love to win this to use for our upcoming trip to Cape Town. My husband and children and I are taking my mom back to visit for the first time in 23 years!!
Ideally I would love a getaway just for myself 😉
Juggling a full time job, two young boys and studying towards a new career/qualification all on my own….I think I need it :p
But seeing as I only see my husband for two days a month….would be nice if it was at a nice little place…just the two of us 🙂
I would go to Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam because it looks like the perfect winter retreat close to Cape Town! I absolutely love being by the water in winter. I’m single so I would like to take my best friend who hasn’t had a holiday in a while and spend some time catching up over a few glasses of red wine!
I would like a romantic getaway with my boyfriend to Knsyna
I would love to visit Magaliesburg, somewhere with log fires, nice walks and great food
If I win this prize I’d book a midweek stay for my wife and me at Kumbagana Game Lodge in the Magaliesberg. From there we’d take a flight in a hot air balloon, and where better than over the majestic plains around the cradle of humankind. After the flight, we’d return to the rustic lodge and spend some quiet together time. Reading, going for walks in the bush, and snacking on delicious treats. 🙂
I would love to take my mom away to Clarens (her favourite place). She has been the sole breadwinner of our little family for quite some time now. As she is a florist , she works every holiday or special occasion (Christmas/Easter/Her birthday ? Etc) She hasn’t been on a holiday for over 10 years but has sacrificed so much of herself for my sister and I to have the best opportunities
She would certainly love to getaway- even if it is just for two days ♥️
Camps Bay retreat would be heavenly!!!!
Wow I’d love to take my boyfriend away for a romantic weekend, somewhere cosy like Clarens or Montagu! Perfect with the rain we’re having! Fingers crossed. Eeeeek!!
For some strange reason, I seem to book holidays during winter. I guess it’s the fact that not as many people are out and about during this time, so a warmer, water-side holiday at a dam with my partner would be awesome. It’s been ages since I’ve had fun in the sun, opting instead for marshmallows over a fire. The Clanwilliam getaway is right up my alley.
It would have to be a beach holiday for us! Our daughter is almost two and has never felt seasand between her toes… something we need to fix! A north coast self-catering home would be grand x
Since we live in the beautiful Mpumalanga region and I have a baby of 11 monhts, I would prefer to go for a breakaway in our own province. It would be ideal to go to a nearby lodge or self catering facility that has a jacuzzi or fireplace. Since I had my baby boy, my husband and I didn’t have any special weekends or even a date night together. Romance is practically non-existent. It would be such a great blessing to be able to win this voucher so that we can go away and just enjoy a nice weekend away from home and spend some quality time together. ♥
The ideal breakaway would be somewhere remote and beautiful. Nature has a way of calming stress better then anything else. Just a chance to breathe again…and whether it’s with my fiancé or alone-I still need to decide on that one!
Sea Star Rocks, Camps Bay, Cape Town … sounds like a winning destination!
Anywhere that has a beach and a pool. I gave birth to our first child last year and its been so amazing but also super tough. Would love to go somewhere just to relax and breathe for a bit:)
Would love a beachside break – a couple of nights away from our foster kids – who are great – but it would be lovely to spend a bit of time with my hubby!
Definitely a romantic one for my husband and I. With 3 kids, vacations and getaways are a luxury we cannot afford, so this would be much needed and appreciated 😉
I’d take my wife away for a romantic weekend away…not too far away from Port Elizabeth so we’re not too far from the kids.
I would loooove to win a weekend away in the Drakensberg (Clarens would be great) with my darling hubby. As a pensioner it’s not so easy to afford a holiday nowadays.
This is exactly what my husband and I need! A romantic getaway before our beautifull little bundle arrives. This could be our very own babymoon?. 2Months since my dad passed on and I feel like I really just need to be away from home and life right now. A break is deffinately what I need. Keeping fingers crossed.
Seastar rock canps bay ????how romantic this would be wow. Fingers crossed
I’d love to go away with my husband. My daughter is now 10 months old and we haven’t been alone away once… He deserves it and it would be amazing to spend time together and get back to our love. We’ve been struggling and going through some rough patches dealing with life as parents. 62 on Camps Bay is beautiful! It’s also in our city if there are any emergencies for baby but we love a good view and could sit for hours just staring into the horizon.
I think Cape Town is beautiful. And I’d be so delighted to win this awesome giveaway.

My fiance and I would like to have an awesome honeymoon and this would just make it so special.
I would love the Sea Star Rocks in Camps Bay and I would take my partner with me as he has really been such a help with my kids and loves them as they are his own …. we just need some Us time!
I would love to have a weekend away with hubby… All our recent breaks have been with kids!
Anywhere seaside we find super relaxing, perfect for babymoon X
It is my and my husband’s 20th anniversary in September.
I would like to book somewhere in a romantic setting and hotel.
We stay in Mpumalanga, so I think it will be somewhere in Mpumalanga.
Wow absolutely stunning.
this will be the perfect way for my husband and i to get away
A romantic night away to 157 Sixth Street in Hermanus with my wife
If I won I would love a country getaway…somewhere like Natal Midlands…with my hubby (together for 37 years & married for 27 of those years ,anniversary is 28th June)
The Clarens Country House, Clarens
I would love a tranquil mountain and forest retreat with friends with a fireplace, beautiful open vistas, a river or waterfall nearby and great hiking trails. As a single person, I just don’t get around to doing these things since my breakup as I have no inclination to go walking alone in the forests. Yet my heart sings when I am in nature! So missing that!
I’d want to go with my spouse to Franshoek, where we got married.
I could use a getaway to somewhere quiet with beautiful scenery. My birthday is coming up (02July). This would be a nice bday present.
Paternoster Lodge WestCoast with my husband sounds like a good idea
Winning this competition would be the biggest blessing ?❤ my boyfriend and I work all sorts of crazy hours… Some would call it overworked & underpaid. So we have yet to go on a lovely getaway, just the two of us. I think if we were lucky enough to be the winners of this awesome competition, we would be over the moon to be staying anywhere along the West Coast. Beach, waves & nature is just what we need to rejuvinate our souls!!!
Solo near any ocean for me.
We are expecting our second child and my husband and I would love a little baby moon. We both love the mountains especially the drake Abery as it is proper time out just to think and absorb in everything. Would be great to reconnect before life gets hectic with two
I would choose a country escape with my husband and 2 boys. Being parents of a newborn and a toddler has been tiring and having a new brother has left our eldest feeling slightly neglected and a lovely break would be just the thing we all need.
My boyfriend Kevin and I enjoy camping or getaways outside the city. The less distraction there is for us, the better! We have a Scrabble battle at every opportunity and both enjoy reading, so a getaway to Lebanon Citrus Resort in Clanwilliam would be right up our ally!
Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam, a must sick and tired of five star hotels, looking for something new adventures and different
Definitely a Drakensberg Retreat escape to revive the soul
I would love to book accommodation in the bush at a Game Reserve, somewhere along northern KZN
I would book accommodation down at sunny warm Durban along either the north or south coast
Would be perfect to use towards accommodation for a trip down to Knysna
This would be amazing to use towards a trip to the Kruger Park
My wife and are are planning a trip to Knysna so I would use this voucher for some accommodation there
I would definitly book a holiday thats closer to home, like The Clarens Country House, Clarens, a quick drive out to your destination and start with the mini holiday to relax 🙂
A beautiful Durban beach getaway with my husband and daughter.
I love the countryside or by the mountains, whilst my man loves the sea. So we meet halfway and go to the countryside. The Midlands Meander is truly heaven on Earth! (Smile) I love a place which has a bounty of activities like horse riding, browsing Antique shops, hikes and trout fishing. I just love feeling the crisp and fresh away whilst being one with Mother Nature. Then a spa treat, farmhouse dinner & then drinking hot chocolate by a roaring fire. Bliss! For me, my family is made up with just 3 Musketeers… my ideal getaway would also involve taking my pooch along too.
Our little boy just turned one! Its been an eventful year for sure but super exhausting for the hubby and I! We def need a weekend away just the two of us! I would love to go somewhere not too far from Gauteng so maybe Clarens! Somewhere where we can eat nice food, go to a few breweries, drink yummy wine and snuggle in front of the fireplace just spending some quality time focusing only on each other! BLISS!
Lebanon Citrus Resort, Clanwilliam. I would go with My Fiance. We would really enjoy it, good time away from the Stress of working in the CBD.
I would book a babymoon-weekend away to the Drakensburg with my partner before the birth of our baby!
A lovely Cape Town beach getaway definitely and my beautiful fiancé will accompany me.
