essie Fall collection 2015

My name is Kathryn and I’m a nail polish addict…

Over the weekend I had a mini-makeup sort out, well actually it was just my nail polishes, and I must admit I have far more bottles than is really necessary…. but then who’s counting? Certainly not me!

I tried very hard to get rid of a few (and my daughter tried to convince me she was a worthy recipient of any I’d grown tired of) but it was really difficult… Ultimately I just ended up shuffling my collection around and realising that I just can’t part with any of the pretty polishes I have collected over time.

One of the reasons for my attempted sort out was that I recently received an amazing box of all the upcoming nail polish colours from essie for the next few months and I was keen to try a few of the new colours out and then add them to my nail polish drawer.

essie had such a fun press event a couple of weeks ago (at Beefcakes!) and I walked away with so many gorgeous new additions to my essie collection. The box contained the Fall 2015 collection, the Winter 2015 collection and the Bridal 2015 collection.

First up let’s talk about the Fall 2015 collection. I’ll cover the Winter and Bridal collections over the next 2 weeks!

I love about the selection of colours for fall – a mix of neutrals, greens, browns and a pretty red – all of which represent various Autumn fashion trends making your nail polish the ideal way to express yourself.

Nail polish really is a great crossover product for both beauty and fashion.

The Fall (or Autumn!) 2015 collection is called ‘Dress to Kilt’ and it the 6 nail polishes that feature in this gorgeous collection are…. (Featured left to right in the photo below)

partner in crime – a rich dark chocolate for a unique nail look

style cartel – a super shiny navy blue – needs 2 coats but is a uniquely beautiful colour

dress to kilt – a bold, seductive, super glossy red

the perfect cover up – a powerful peacock teal

fall in line – an army green that is great for everyday wear or for a night out (it’s very similar to essie’s Vested Interest which is one of my faves)

take it outside – a lovely neutral, opaque taupe grey that is the perfect neutral for fall (similar to essie’s Chinchilly, a great neutral grey that’s super popular – this one is just a bit lighter)

I love this collection, the colours are definitely darker and more moody than usual and ones really suited to the colder weather.

There is something for everyone here – those who prefer muted shades will love ‘Take It Outside’ and ‘Fall In Line’, if you prefer bright, glossy shades head right over to ‘Style Cartel’ and ‘Dress To Kilt‘ and if you love unique, dark shades then ‘The Perfect Cover Up’ and ‘Partner In Crime’ are straight up your street!

My favourite is ‘Fall in Line’ – the colour I’m wearing today – but I’m also a fan of ‘Style Cartel’! And the ‘Take it Outside’ grey is sure to be one I wear over and over again!

Coming up next from essie is another stunning selection of colours to look forward – the Winter 2015 collection. So, come back next week for more about this amazing array of nail colours.

You can buy the essie Fall 2015 collection at selected Dis-Chem, Clicks and Foschini stores & beauty salons, or online at Zando with a retail price of R 125,00 per bottle.

I think for this year’s Fall collection they’re going to be experimenting with shimmers and metallics.
