What I…

Life is short and one should appreciate every moment, as well as the people in your life. We don’t know what tomorrow may bring so we need to live fully in the present. Or did you mean what do I know as in my prior experience? (Giggles) oops I may have gotten this question wrong. Work-wise, it’s all about Twitter. I also do have the better part of a decade’s worth of experience in the hospitality industry before I started writing my travel blog and my Social  Media business. But you can find all that boring stuff about me on LinkedIn

Well I love many things; I love the smell of vanilla cupcakes freshly baked; I love the summer sun on my face; I love good hair days; I love a really good pinotage and decadent dark chocolate;  but nothing compares to the love of family. Despite our differences, beliefs and varied ages, family always has your back. The unfailing unconditional love of family is the best love in the whole world.

My 2 favourite books of all time are The Prophet by Kalil Gibran and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The Alchemist tells a great story filled with lessons about the greatest journey on earth. It speaks of love, devotion, faith, courage, understanding…the journey inward towards self.  Don’t ever give up on your dreams! I’ve recently read #Girlboss by Sophia Amoroso its a truly inspiring read for any woman in business.

Sjoe this is going to be a long list so let me narrow it down in terms of travel. Before I die I would like to visit Thailand, Singapore, Japan and a few more islands like Bora Bora, Zanzibar and the Maldives. I’m a beach baby at heart and if I could visit all of the beaches around the world, I would be in my element!

I have quite an eclectic taste and usually dress to suit my mood. This can mean anything from a power suit & killer heels one day to a sarong and flip flops the next….if I’m truly honest, I’m a heels girl (smiles) as Marilyn Monroe quite rightly said: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!” I also have a secret penchant for vintage wear, I’m what I like to call a part-time pinup. I simply adore the chic Americana frocks of the 50s. I swear I was born in the wrong era!

Patience, self awareness and a heavy dose of self love. The inner journey is a constant work. The need to understand myself better will aid me in understanding others. Greater compassion and love is what the world needs now more than ever and not narcissism, consumerism, greed nor instant gratification. I need to be able to love myself more so that I can love others more. Where there is love there is no fear. Fear breeds hatred and wars. I want to be a part of the change that brings about good. I want to help others. This may sound oh so idealistic from behind my rosy tinted shades. But I firmly believe we can all make difference in the world if we just take responsibility for ourselves. Ghandi said: “Be the change you seek in the world” I believe he was right.

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!

  1. We love the same books Jax.

After we met, I got the distinct feeling that you did not like me very much (sensitive much?) so I don’t play on your posts often.
