What I… Tamlyn from Tamlyn Amber Wanderlust

A few months back I was featured in an interview about my travels on Tamlyn Amber Wanderlust.

Today I’m returning the favour and featuring Tamlyn over here in my What I… blogger interview series!

Her blog features a selection of personal travel writing experiences about local places, festivals, restaurants and markets across South Africa.

Read on to find out more about Tamlyn…

What I…

I love spending time with my family, closest friends and animals.

I love nature and wide open spaces and the tiniest patch of greenery in a concrete jungle.

I love food (lots of it!), especially Italian cuisine; cookies; and good coffee in the morning.

I love travelling and writing – and hopefully, encouraging, assisting or touching people through my writing.

I know now that with age does not necessarily come wisdom… or all the perks you thought you’d gain once you hit 18 – but it does come with freedom and the ability to learn new skills, to grow as a person and to reach different, precious milestones as life progresses.

I know that life isn’t easy (especially nowadays with the world we live in) but it’s worth it – and it’s so unbelievably beautiful, even when we feel we’ve reached our breaking point.

I know that small kindness and a gentle word can cure a lot more in this world than money ever could – and that sticking to your beliefs, no matter who challenges them or shouts you down, is one of the most important and rewarding things you will ever do.

(When I have time to read) I read everything from the so-called classics to romances and fantasy novels and basically anything that allows my imagination to soar. I also love historical books and food & lifestyle magazines, like Fresh Living.

I’m going currently mildly addicted to anything by Jojo Moyes – if you love her work, don’t stop at Me Before You because the other books are even more powerful, wonderfully natural and human.

I want to be content in life – and I want to choose to be happy (because I believe happiness is something we choose… not a state of being or a fleetingly feeling).

I want to travel when I have free time and see the hidden corners of my country and the world.

I want to write as often as I can, about whatever I can.

I want to be a good person… especially to those closest to my heart, but also to the world at large.

I am someone who loves skirts and summer dresses; scarves; jerseys and leggings. As well as boots and pumps… I sometimes wear vintage clothing or, for work now, corporate or smart-formal. (I secretly love the blazers and pencil skirts…)

But, deep down, I think the most attractive thing I could ever wear is a natural, broad smile…

I need God, my loved ones and little pets to get me through life.

I need people to believe in me sometimes… because I’m generally only good at believing in others more than myself.

I need writing and travel to help me escape… and long road trips and beautiful, remote places to find myself again.

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
