Today I’m sharing my space with local travel blogger and small town advocate, Stephanie Marthinus.
From Cape Town Stephanie is passionate about small towns, local wineries, and delectable eateries.
Her travels began as a student when she learnt how to get around as cheaply as possible… (bus, train, and taxis)
Two years later and the arrival of a tiny Corsa car meant that she was able to begin exploring towns far and wide like Jacobs Bay and Porterville. From there she realised that she wanted to create awareness about local travel in South Africa, and especially the Western Cape, to let people know how incredible the small towns of South Africa are.
So far her and her husband have visited 74 towns out of 193 and still have a long way to go.
Stephanie is the content creator and social media diva, while Courtney is the driver and photographer.

What I…
Know
To put God as my center. It’s sometimes difficult during tough times but I try to remain positive. Learn to appreciate that everyone is different and unique in their own right so always be the best version of yourself. That I have the best support system and know that life is one beautiful travel and adventurous journey.
Love
To always love yourself but to share the love too; whether it be with my husband, my parents, friends and, extended family members. I love that I’m able to share my small town travels with people yet showcase the small town love of many poverty-stricken communities.
Read
I’m a young adult and fiction kind of reader. I have over 100 reading books and still have no idea how I find the time to even read at all. My all-time favourite authors are Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain and, I’ve recently grown to love Rainbow Rowell as well as E.Lockhart. I also read at least three travel magazines a month for some travel inspiration.
Want
I want many things but I realised recently that material items don’t bring me any joy in life. I would love to have more free time to travel as much as I can; exploring South Africa and hopefully some neighbouring countries like Namibia.
Wear
Lots of bright dresses or simply jeans and a loose top. I work in a very relaxed environment hence why I don’t even own a blazer or formal trousers.
Need
To stop stressing over every small thing that happens. I literally burst 4 eye vessels in the last three months so I need to calm down and not take everything so personal. Also, I need to get rid of so many material junk I hoard. It’s a problem!
