What I… Sharon from Supershazzer

Today in my What I… South African blogger interview series I’m sharing my space with Sharon Atkins, a mom to two (Matthew, 10 and step daughter Sydney, 17) She is also writer, LinkedIn expert and social media consultant.

She has a Wellness Blog called Supershazzer where she shares her love of all things related to natural health, fitness, nutrition, foodie stuff, recipes and personal development. She also loves travel and reading.

Read on to find out more about her…

What I…

That life is hard and it’s also amazing, it’s heart-breaking and it’s also breath-taking. There is a constant balance of good and bad in our lives at all times.

That there is more to life than just surface. I believe in the underlying laws and principles of the universe and that everything is connected to everything else.

Getting older makes time fly and you have to work harder to stay healthy.

We are all here for a reason and we all have the ability to do something. Love this quote.

“Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: if you’re alive, it isn’t.” Richard Bach

We are all busy and running around and surrounded by people. I know we all need some time on our own, to fill ourselves up again, to recharge, to go back to our centre. I cherish those solitary moments where I can take a deep breath and hear my own voice again.

Family comes at the top of my list, from my nearest and dearest to extended family across the country and the globe.

A really good coffee and savouring that first sip.

I have recently started Yoga and I am loving the way it challenges me and feels so good if done properly.

Walking and hiking and being in nature.

Swimming in water in all forms from the sea to rivers and lakes.

Travelling and exploring. We also love planning our trips, that is part of the fun.

Our home and where we stay and, of course, South Africa.

I love getting stuck into good fiction (life is too short to read cr#p) and autobiographies.

Currently my book budget is spent on my love of personal development and growth. These books include anything by Dr John Demartini, A Course in Miracles, The Universe Has Your Back, Big Magic, On Becoming Fearless, A Return to Love, You Are Enough and Tools of Titans.

Health and wellness is also at the top of the list. Current favourites are the Pioppi Diet, The Clever Guts Diet, Why We Get Fat, Grain Brain, Stuffed and Freedom from Emotional Eating.

A new SLR camera with video function. I love photography and need to update my old CANON EOS.

To learn some video and editing skills.

To eat out more at all the awesome restaurants in Cape Town.

To travel locally and explore all the great places that this country has to offer.

To hike the trails in South Africa. Have done a few, but on my list is the Dolphin Trail, Amatola Trail, Fish River and the Whale Trail.

Can be summed up in one word: casual. My fave “smart” outfit and what I feel good in is a well-fitting pair of jeans (blue or black), a plain t-shirt and a blazer. Accessorized with a patterned scarf or simple dangly earrings. Otherwise you will find me in my training gear or anything comfortable.

If I was in my “spirit junkie” mode I would say “nothing”… but come on, life is real and needs are real.

At this very moment, I need…

A massage to soothe my knotted muscles

A good cappuccino

A moment in nature under the shade of the trees with a flowing stream nearby

A stay over in the countryside somewhere with vast starry skies, abundant bird life and local flora

A catch-up with girlfriends over a glass of wine

Some more clients, writing work or contracts that I can get stuck into!

Thanks for sharing Sharon!

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
