What I… Shante from Rose and Thorns

I’ve got another awesome blogger to share with you today… this time it’s Shante who writes over at Rose and Thorns about her life and loves – namely her daughter Rosie, wine, food and travel.

She’s also a talented photographer and takes incredible photos (check out her amazing Roses for Thorns photo series on her site if you haven’t come across it already! Just WOW)

But first read on to find out more about Shante below….

What I…

Each year can be better than the last when you surround yourself with the right people, the right mindset and the right goals.

I am more me than I have ever been thanks to finally accepting myself and opening my heart to change.

There is purpose in everything…even in the last slice of cake.

I can push myself further than I ever believed possible because of the support of my husband and my family.

My beautiful and crazy family – I love our imperfections and how unique and different our personalities are.

I love working for myself, taking pride in my work and pursuing my goals.

I love the community of parenting bloggers in SA and our fierce devotion to getting taken seriously and being treated equally.

The back of ingredient packets and body products because I’m trying to be better at what I put inside and on our bodies.

In all seriousness, I love reading novels but it’s the getting started and the finding time that I struggle the most with – my mind is always turned on when I read a book, I have to completely devote my attention to it.

My chosen authors are Bernard Cornwell, Francine Rivers and Jodie Picoult.

To always be able to provide for my family and to give my daughters a safe and loving environment to grow up in.

I want to instil pride in them, not so that it overshadows their kindness, but I do believe that pride in yourself can help you chart a course for success.

I want to be a parent who is proud of their children no matter what path they choose, but I want to have been strong enough to provide them with the best platform for reaching their goals.

Whatever doesn’t require ironing. Working from home is terrible for dressing down because I find myself in grungy basics on most days.

If I truly had my way and didn’t have office staff and constant deliveries, I would quite happily walk around in my underwear.

But, for meetings and general outings, I’m a comfy classics girl. Jeans or leggings. Stripes and Plaid. Cool, bright colours or black and whites.

Oh, and statement necklaces, anything can be made to look fabulous with a bold necklace.

To rest my bones occasionally. I need to know when to let go of something when it’s not benefiting me.

In an ideal world, I need to take my family on an all-inclusive island holiday.

In my current world, I need to be more organized!

Thanks for taking part in this series Shante!

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
