What I.. Sara Essop from In Africa and Beyond

Today I am interviewing travel blogger Sara Essop who types over at  In Africa and Beyond and writes her travel stories for many print publications too!

In Africa and Beyond is a blog about travel, events and experiences in Africa, and the rest of the world.

Sara says her love of travel started as a child, “I often got lost in the pages of Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree series. I would excitedly discover and explore new and strange lands at the top of the Faraway Tree with the children in the book. Now, as an adult, I still love discovering and exploring exciting places around the world, albeit using more conventional travel methods.”

What I….

Know

I am finally following my passion – travel writing. I studied commerce and still do some work in it but travel and travel writing is where my heart lies.
Money can’t buy happiness but it can certainly buy you a plane ticket to somewhere exotic.

Love

My family
Exploring new places and taking photos
My fridge magnet collection from around the world
The internet- it makes the world so much more accessible and makes life so much easier.

Read

As a child, I often got lost in the pages of Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair series. I would excitedly discover and explore new and strange lands at the top of the Faraway Tree with the children in the book. Now my children are doing the same. Unfortunately I don’t get as much time to read books anymore as I’d like.

I also read magazines, newspapers and everything online. (Maybe that’s why I don’t get time to read books?)

Want

A good night’s sleep which is a bit difficult because I suffer from Restless Legs Syndrome
For my kids to grow up to be well-rounded individuals – they are now 9 and 10.
Give me a new experience over a new possession any day!

Experiences

Wear

Classic comfy clothes only. You’re most likely to find me in slacks, loose tops and pumps. I am no fashion slave.

Need

Coffee first thing in the morning.
To get my bush fix every so often. I am a safari addict.
To get my spa fix every so often. It’s the only time I let myself relax.
More hours in my day so that I can blog more, read more and sleep more.

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
