I love how blogging introduces me to so many wonderfully creative and interesting people! Rose McClement is one such lady. Rose blogs over at The Design Tabloid and her aim is to showcase South African interior design, architecture, furniture and décor. She uses her blog as a platform to showcase young emerging designers. Rose is also the owner of Design Monarchy, a Cape Town based Interior Design & Décor Company. Thanks so much Rose for taking part in my blogger interview series!
WHAT I…
KNOW:
There are a few things I know ….that life moves on so very quickly. Your children grow up even quicker and before you can wipe the sleep outta your eyes, you have reached the “Granny” stage of life. But hey -this is such a good space to be!! I also know that being married for more years than I care to mention is one of life’s biggest lessons, about which I could write a book. But it has brought me to a place of contentment – having sailed at least 5 of the 7 seas together by now. Oh – and I know I still feel young every day. Except after a hectic party because the recovery rate seems to take forever lately!!
Last one – its okay to reinvent yourself. In fact, in a lifetime, it is a must do!
LOVE:
I am so fortunate to love what I do and do what I love. Particularly the last 10 years of my career/business life. I love writing, networking, talking, learning new stuff, having my own space. And mostly I love my family – I look at them and have to wonder that despite all that has been thrown at us, good and bad, here we are still standing as a family, stronger than before. It is so very awesome. Love my circle of friends. They are just so awesome as well.
READ:
I read plenty decor, business, social media blogs. Reading is one of my absolute pleasures. I have a little library set up in my bedroom that has bookshelves groaning under the weight of the books. Many not read, but being held for my retirement, when I intend ploughing my way through them. Mostly I love simple thrillers with Jeffrey Archer being one of my hot favourites. My other constant companions are business books, autobiographies of business peeps and spiritual books.
WANT:
To spend far more time with my grandchildren, live closer to them. I want to retire to a mansion of a house in the country – only so that my grandchildren can have somewhere special to retreat. I want to get to that place, because then I know that I would have achieved my business goals as well. I want to write that book that has been hanging around inside me for a while.
WEAR:
Hey I do interior decor, not fashion. My sis is the one blessed with the fabulous sense of fashion and the wallet to support her overloaded walk-in wardrobe but that works for me because I catch what she throws out. I am working towards developing my own dress sense and identity. Tried Out of the Blue for a while, but now I am liking the Poetry look. I like leggings, flat shoes (pumps mostly). I am a Libra, so there has to be that hint of the feminine in my clothes. I am never without my accessories – bracelet, earrings and necklace. And perfume every day.
NEED:
My daily dose of perfume – plenty bottles of designer perfume would be just grand thank you. I need to travel a few more times again.
