In June 2016 Leanne set out to be the first woman to visit (and blog about) all 800 wine farms in the Western Cape. Her goal is to visit at least 80 farms every year so that the 800th farm can be celebrated by her 40th birthday!!!
Visiting a new wine farm every weekend whilst holding down a full time job has its challenges but she continues to keep smiling while conquering her challenge, currently she is on wine farm 104!
Pop on over to read her wine-themed blog where she shares more about the South African wine industry, its beautiful scenery, friendly people and fun activities!
If there’s one important lesson that I have learnt in this lifetime, it is not WHAT you know but WHO you know. Never be afraid to ask the right people for things that may benefit you. How do you meet these people? Join every networking opportunity possible and hey, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn are great networking tools too. You will be surprised what you can gain and in turn, what you can learn from others too. Knowledge is a never-ending path, so keep connecting and learning!
My life is extremely busy. Whilst I love being so active and constantly engaging with people, it is also extremely draining for me as I am actually an introvert. I absolutely love re-charging by taking an hour to myself where I can just sit in peace and quiet. Most of the time I achieve this by either doing my nails, going for a walk in nature or just going to bed early.
I am not a reader, my brain wanders too much and before I know it, my eyes have read 10 pages but my brain was somewhere else. So I prefer to read snappy content on Social Media or news articles that I get via email. I find that I can focus more on stories that are real – stories that I can learn from.
I have this horrible light fitting in my living room, above my dining table that hangs from the ceiling. It must be from the 1990s it’s so ugly (haha). I really want to replace it with an elegant chandelier I saw at @home, but that’s going to take quite a bit of saving. So I’m going to see what old clothing and items I can sell on Gumtree to boost my savings account.
Most times, my entire outfit will be a mix of Zara, Forever New and Cotton On. I believe that buying quality and sometimes pricey items pays off in the long run. I like to wear loose fitting outfits like dresses so I can eat like a beast and not worry about my stomach exploding out of my clothing haha! One will most of the time spot me in heels, but I recently found a liking to wearing platform sneakers. They are both versatile and they still give you height.
Time. If I get down to the essence of what really makes me happy… the gift of people’s time is the greatest gift of all. If it’s my birthday, I don’t need a present, all I need is your time in spending this special day with me. Likewise in relationships, if my partner gives up certain things like cancelling an appointment because I need someone to be with me at a function – that’s love!
