Today’s blogger interview is a delicious treat… you get to meet the very sweet Katelyn from The Kate Tin!
Katelyn is passionate about food and in fact her day job also revolves around food as she is the food content planner for early morning TV show, Expresso! Read on to find out more about this self-confessed “food nerd”.
What I….
Know,
The world would be a happier place if everyone baked a cake once in a while. When I bake, I get lost in the precision of it all – it calms my mind after a long day and gives me an exceptional amount of joy. For me, the most incredible thing about baking, is that (unlike cooking) you begin with ingredients that don’t at all resemble what you end up with. You’re always making something entirely new. It’s just so magical.
Love,
Chocolate. Cold rainy wintery days spent baking biscuits. Good coffee. Hot bubble baths. Sleeping in on a Sunday. Earl Grey Tea. Freshly laundered bed linen. Cake. Laughing with my friends. Eating condensed milk straight out the tin. The smell of freshly baked bread!
Read,
I have an absurd cookbook collection – definitely more than 250 stacked onto my poor sagging bookshelf. And I read cookbooks like novels, from beginning to end. I also adore food-themed novels like Chocolat, Like Water for Chocolate, Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure etc. I recently finished reading White Truffles in Winter by N.M. Kelby which is the imagined story on the life of French chef Escoffier. My most treasured books though, are the recipe journals I inherited from my grandmother, my great aunt and my mom. They’re tattered and blotched with flour and all manner of baking ingredients, but they’re filled with so many recipes and memories. These books are an endless source of inspiration for me!
Want,
Copper everything – pots, pans, utensils, mixers. It’s becoming quite a problem! And of course, any budding photographer is always lusting over that next lens or camera upgrade! 😉 Oh yes, and then there’s my every-growing stash of cookie cutters…
Wear,
I’m a real girly girl and often feel like I should’ve been born in the era of circle skirts and pearls. My wardrobe almost only consists of dresses and skirts and you wouldn’t catch me dead leaving the house without makeup and clean hair. My grandmother always used to say, you never know who you might bump into!
Need,
I can do anything after 8 hours of sleep and a great cup of coffee. Throw in a slice of cake for breakfast and I can conquer the world!
