What I…

Laughter really is the best medicine.
There’s no such place as home.
You’ve got to have a good work vs life balance to be happy. Too much on either side is not good.
It’s the little things in life that mean the most.
You should never stop learning and exploring.
Always be yourself. That’s what people will love you for.
You can’t make everybody like you (this was a real tough one for me to accept).
Open-minded & inquisitive people have better stories to tell.
You have to respect & look after your body, you only have one.
Don’t waste your time doing things to please other people, life’s too short.
The wrong shoe can ruin any outfit.
Being recognised for job well done is one of the best feelings in the world.
I’m truly blessed to be who I am and have what I have.

My boyfriend, family & friends. They’re always there for me and I’m very grateful for that.
Cape Town! The Mother City will always be my number 1 fling. 😉
Travelling. Thanks to a very strong wandering spirit, if I don’t get away regularly I tend to get a bit depressed.
Indulging in my sugar cravings, with chocolate, cupcakes, macarons & pancakes being my ultimate favourites.
Retail therapy. It truly is good for your soul you know.
Pink drinks.
Mini Coopers.
Reality TV shows like The Bachelor and So you think you can dance. There’s nothing better to switch off a bit after a long day.
Monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas & orangutans.
Quirky decor shops.
Boerie rolls.
Dark humour – think Cyanide & Happiness.
Good food, good wine & good conversation.
Chilling on the beach, preferably with cocktail in hand.
Being silly.
Sexy killer heels (even though they hurt like hell sometimes).
“Real manly men” like Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman and my boyfriend (I’m going to get bonus points for this one).
Touring the winelands.
Sleeping in. Add some cuddles and it’s even better.
Men’s swimming… for obvious reasons.
OK – let me stop there, we might be here forever. ☺

I’m not embarrassed to admit that I’m not really a book reader. So no, I haven’t fallen for this whole Fifty Shades of Grey craze, I’ll be waiting for the movie version. That way I can fast forward through the boring bits. ☺ If you do however spot me with a book, it’s probably a travel guide – I do love those, they help me plan my next trip.
I enjoy the odd magazine read, with Marie Claire being my favourite. This is usually done on the couch with a snug blankie and chocolate in hand.
There are also a few blogs I check out regularly, covering quite a wide variety of topics to keep things interesting. The rest of the time you’ll find me skimming through my Twitter feed – a sign of the times I guess…

A never-ending travel fund.
A new camera, a new phone and a MacBook Air. Yup, a whole technology refresh! I’m a “techie” and need to be up to date with all the new gadgets.
A slick apartment with a wrap-around balcony, rooftop garden, walk-in closet and killer views.
A pug dog. Aren’t ugly dogs just the best?
A Mini Cooper S with a sunroof, mag wheels guys would be proud of and racing stripes (of course).
To be able to eat as much sweet things as I want without ever picking up any weight.
To be very successful so I can retire at a young(ish) age.

Jeans, jeans and more jeans. Mostly the skinny variety and in every colour possible.
Fun & flirty dresses when I want to feel a bit more girly.
I’m a huge fan of a perfectly fitted blazer.
Any jewellery pieces with hearts or birds on it.
Miss Dior Cherie. It’s such a pretty scent.
I never leave the house without a good slathering of The Body Shop’s Satsuma body butter. Obsessed with its great citrusy smell and how soft & glowing it makes your skin.

A sabbatical to figure out my next career move…
Extra hours in the day.
To keep experiencing new things.
But most of all, just to be happy & loved.

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
