What I… Jessica Franks from Jesska

Jessica (otherwise known as Jesska) blogs about her favourite recipes, restaurant reviews and other food and travel related awesomeness in the city of Johannesburg.

She loves collecting cookbooks, eating, cooking and baking. Basically food. She loves food!

What I….

I’m the world’s greatest googler (stalking skills included). Anything that I want to know more about I google. I then tend to remember arb facts about the things I’ve googled.

I’m over-passionate about food, whether it’s a home cooked meal made with love, or a posh dinner with multiple plates of small portions of fancy food, or a greasy dive bar with generous portions that need to been eaten with both hands. I also love to travel, and whilst I have gone on a number of personal trips, lately all my travelling has been work related. The only part I dislike about travelling is the long flight times. I also love my two dogs, Basil and Pickle. They are mixed breed rescues that are incredibly entertaining to be around. The fact that they let me dress them up is also awesome.

I love to read, ever since I could, I have been absorbed by words and the impact that they can have. Whether it’s a fictional novel that gets you lost in another world for hours, or a beautifully crafted recipe book that you can devour. Even though I have a kindle, I do most of my reading on my phone, and am generally not fussed with a specific genre. I probably read at least one book a week, and have a small library’s worth of recipe books in my lounge.

I want to visit as many countries as possible. I’ve visited most of the Far East, and would like to start exploring Europe next. Italy is at the top of my list, mainly so I can try all the amazing food that the country has to offer.

I dress for comfort, I have the fashion sense of an armadillo, and often wish I could look as put together as other people. Even though I am really short, I have stopped wearing heels, as I hate how sore my feet get after an hour of wearing them. I mainly wear jeans, tshirts and slops. I hardly ever wear make up, probably because I’m clueless on how to apply it properly. I also wear glasses (and recently some super awkward braces), although I wish I didn’t need to.

More motivation to get up and do things. I’m the queen of procrastination. I would show you my crown, but you will have to wait.

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
