This week I’m featuring a foodie blogger and creator of The Food Buzz called Ilse. She loves to cook, entertain and eat delicious and beautifully presented food. Plus she also features interviews with local chefs as well as restaurant reviews. Check out her foodie calendar for all food related activities in and around Cape Town!
At the moment she is going through a personal weight loss journey and documents her meals, recipes and progress along the way… Read on to find out more about Ilse.
What I……..
Know:
I have the ability to invent a uniquely, delicious dish out of the simplest, strangest and often unlikeliest of ingredients (Necessity, I find this truest in the kitchen, is the mother of invention)
Ever had curry with lychee ?
I also know, I will very soon be writing a cookbook called The Working Women’s Guide to 30 min Effortless Meals or something equally descriptive of the fact that there are so many tasty, healthy and QUICK dishes you can ‘gooi’ together for your family that can make you look like Superwoman and takes less than 30 minutes – so stay tuned to the blog for updates on this!
Love:
I love a clean kitchen, to me it means I can really go for it when I start cooking – everything is where it’s supposed to be – but it usually also means I will mess it up pretty good, it’s a jol for me – not so much for the cleaning lady which unfortunately mostly is me! To be in my kitchen cooking for my friends and family and creating my form of art – that is the biggest love of all for me, it serves my soul’s purpose
I love my Kitties very much, this one here with the moves is yoga queen, Bixi
Read:
At the moment I am obsessed with the book The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. This book is such a must read for anyone who can identify with the struggle of being a creative spirit, here is a paragraph from the book that so resonates with me:
Want:
I want to make a living out of teaching my art, by teaching others my passion and creativity for cooking in different mediums whether it be a television cooking show, online demonstrations or hosting events – the ultimate would be a Demo kitchen at a venue like The Old Biscuit Mill. Failing that, I guess this girl could temporarily settle for a ‘Raspberry Ice’ Kitchen Aid Mixer because it’s just so damn sexy!

Wear:
I like to wear simple, modern and comfortable classics, I have a big personality so I need to tone down the threads somewhat – I like black, grey and white with lots of navy and denim and I love a great statement watch, I have a beautiful Michael Kors but I especially love this Armani my husband bought me on our one year wedding anniversary this year.
Then perfume – ladies, I can’t stress this enough – designer clothing means nothing if a woman does not smell amazing – my perfume of choice, Chance (which is French for ‘Luck’) is from Chanel. This fragrance has lemon and pineapple in the top notes and patchouli and amber in the base, it is soft and fresh with just the right subtle hints of sweet and sexy, it’s so important to find the right scent for your skin type but my hubby digs this on me so I’m happy.
Need:
Tasty, flavourful and colourful food is a must at EVERY meal – look, unless you are Honeyboohoo or whatever, you only get three of those a day – life really is too short for dull, boring or bland food!
I need everyone else to realise this and go to thefoodbuzz.co.za, subscribe to the site and join this culinary adventure!!! Bonus: When you subscribe, you get a copy of my e-Cookbook
