It’s always lovely to discover beautiful new blogs to follow – and I love sharing my finds with my readers.
I recently came across the lovely PrettyBelle by Helene Olivier. Wife, mom of two, journalist, blogger, content creator, teacher and image consultant, Helene loves living the slow(er) life in the Lowveld… and blogging about it.
Her main blog topics are parenting and fashion. The blog is raw, real and relatable… with a pinch of pretty. She agrees that motherhood changes everything, but that does not mean you have to walk around in yoga pants every day. So she chooses to live by the motto: Embrace the chaos with style!
I can do anything if I set my mind to it. I realised this when I was pregnant and got diagnosed with HG (hyperemesis gravidarum). I was sick for 9 months – after this traumatic experience I realised that if you are healthy you can achieve anything.
It’s a cliché, but life is short and I intend to make the most of it.
Shopping! For myself, hubby, Minki, Joshua or clients – I’m a shopaholic and, luckily, a personal shopper!
I love music – I believe it has magical powers. I love listening to The Lumineers, The Killers or The Airborne Toxic Event and, thanks to my dad, Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond and Elvis.
I love picking up Minki from school. The look on her face when she sees me makes me smile no matter how bad my day was.
Running on the treadmill, coffee dates in cosy coffee shops, taking a bite of the perfect cheesecake, the sound of the rain on our roof, watching reality shows like The Bachelor and Project Runway, putting on a new ZARA dress, writing, painting, playing the piano.
I love my family. Time with them is precious. We grew up in such a happy home filled with love. And I love the fact that my 2 littles get to be part of such an amazing (and big) family.
I used to read (but now I’m lucky if I get to page through a magazine)!
My favourite books: One Day, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and the book I would recommend to anyone that made me cry more than once: The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak.
So many things!
I want to lose my pregnancy weight!
I want to build my brand!
I want to continue working with brands on the blog (big and small), inspire moms through my blogging, maybe venture into public speaking.
I want to combine blogging and image consulting and inspire moms along the way. I truly believe motherhood changes everything but that does not mean you have to walk around in yoga pants every day.
I want to be a good wife!
I want my kids to be happy and never experience the dark side of life. I want to protect them and keep them safe.
I do not want to get old(er)!
I want to be kind to everyone and raise good humans.
Where do I start? I love fashion! For me it’s a way of expressing myself and I’m not waiting for a special occasion to look good.
I love mixing and matching and putting items together in a stylish way. My everyday style is casual glam. I mostly wear dresses paired with sneakers. I’m obsessed with jumpsuits! I love my skinny jeans!
Some of my favourite brands are ZARA and YDE, which gives my wardrobe the edge. Woolworths is wonderful for basics. Lovisa has the most beautiful accessories (the quickest and cheapest way to update your look). H&M has affordable and trendy clothes. Cotton On high waisted gym pants changed my life and if I need to dress up for a wedding I head to Forever New.
Because I shop for a living, I know the trends and I know exactly what’s in store. If it’s pretty and it works for my body shape, I will wear it. I find pieces from all over and combine it for a unique and I think fabulous look.
More time! I seriously feel like I just need one week alone – without any distractions to get my life back on track. I’m a perfectionist and I hate not feeling in control. I need to sort out my admin, my 45 846 photos on my iPhone, my closet, my house… The list goes on!
I need my husband and Mom to tell me that I’m good enough (I struggle with low self-esteem, believe it or not).
I need a new Estee Lauder fiery red lipstick!
I need to stay calm, try and relax and remember that Rome was not build in a day.
I need my family (and a full body massage)! 😉
