Many moons ago when I first started this online space the world of blogging was not the competitive space it has become, in fact it was quite the opposite. It had a heart! One that was about sharing ideas with likeminded people, creating community and writing your story to encourage others in a similar space.
Somewhere along the line blogging became a business and, with that change of heart, it lost its’ heart. It became a blogger-eat-blogger world.
I refuse to believe that this will be the legacy of my blog. One day I want to look back on what I’ve created in the online arena and be proud of it… I don’t want to feel ashamed that I too got sucked into the uber-competitive state of affairs. Call me old-fashioned but I still want to share stories and uplift people and meet amazing new people in the online world.
My series of Blogger Interviews helps me to do just that! For over 8 years I’ve been featuring a different South African blogger on my pages each week.
Today is no different!
This week I’m sharing my space with Franki, a South African travel journalist who has also written a few guests posts for my blog!
Currently she lives in London but she has worked all over the world – in a Costa Rican jungle, on yachts in the Caribbean and in the African bushveld.
In her spare time she loves hiking, running or cycling somewhere in the wild which is what has inspired her own blog, Women 4 Adventure.
Read on to find out more about Franki.
I know that the most important things in life are love, family, friends, kindness and passion. Choose someone who truly compliments you, make quality time for friends and family, be kind and pursue a career that you’re passionate about (life’s too short not to). I also know that being connected to nature is vital to our wellbeing. Many of us struggle to find that connection, especially in office jobs and big cities, but there are ways around this – go for that lunchtime walk in the park or simply sit in a garden when you get home.
I love my home, which I share with my husband Adam. Home to me is where he is.
I love chatting to my mom over cups of tea, being on holiday with my family back in South Africa and spending time with good friends.
I love being outdoors and active, reading, long road trips with great playlists, hiking, yoga, cycling, trail running, listening to live music, making music, writing, entrepreneurship, lazy lie ins on Sundays with Adam and, of course, travelling.
I would love to grow Women4Adventure into a bigger business, complete with travel packages and a print magazine! I’d also love a pup.
I try to avoid the underground here in London, which means that during the week you’ll find me commuting mostly on my bicycle. I’ll either be in bike-friendly Vans, shorts and t-shirt or in a dress with sandals.
Quality time with my special people, the freedom to be creative, nature and a van for long and adventurous road trips.
