What I… Debbie from Our Greenish Life

I’ve known Debbie since I was 12… and she was a bit younger ūüėČ To say I’m pleased to share my space with her today is an understatement.

Last year Debbie attended Blog Boot Camp and assisted myself and Lana with the behind-the-scenes stuff as a wannabe blogger eager to learn. Today she’s one of the shining lights in the South African blogging community and her new blog, Our¬†Greenish Life, is growing daily! I’m so pleased for her… and, of course, a little bit proud that I might have had something to do with inspiring her blogging journey!

Debbie blogs about her attempts to go green, including paleo eating, growing her own food and her experiences as a doula. But her disclaimer keeps it real ” I love sugar, luminous nail polish, candy floss and red wine. I run mainly because it allows me to eat delicious un-paleo foods. I am very much on a journey in becoming greener and am certainly¬†not getting this right most of the time.” Love it!

Well done Debs for how far you’ve come in such a short space of time. I am watching your journey with joy!

What I…

Know that life is better shared. Life is better when we do it together, and truly understand the heartbeat of Ubuntu community. When we recklessly love others and open ourselves up to be loved in return.

family shoot

Love easily. I love my family, most especially my hubby and kids. I love wine and chocolate and chili poppers. I love travelling, and sleeping, running and drinking coffee with friends. I love writing Christmas cards and watching the change of season and baking biscuits at home. I love birth. I love cooking with (more so than for) friends who know where our wine glasses and chopping boards live in our kitchen. I most of all love an evening where delicious food is cooked, eaten and the conversation flows past the necessaries and shoes are kicked off, and bodies cuddled into couches late into the night.

Life in Community

Bread and Wine

Read¬†mainly¬†biographies. Books like Bread and Wine (Shauna Niequist) and Simplify (Joshua Becker)… and Runners World online as I prepare for my first marathon (yikes). I’m currently racing through books about doula-ing (as I complete my DONA (Doulas of North America) Certification).

Want (DEEP DOWN) to grab my closest friends (and their families) and run away to a small island off the west coast of Vancouver (where the city can still be accessible РI do love a city). But on this island we would read stories, watch sunsets, roast our own coffee, drink aged wine, let our kids grow up by getting dirty and staying out late, run, cook, explore and adventure.

Tauranga - New Zealand

Wear the most comfortable clothing possible Рharem pants, worn in jeans Рthat kind of thing. And pretty much one pair of shoes all summer. I do love an excuse to dress up and wear heels, but not for long.

Travel - flying into NZ

Need¬†coffee first thing in the morning. First thing. I need full cream milk in the fridge, condensed milk in the cupboard and a secret stash of chocolate somewhere. And lip ice. I can’t go anywhere without lip ice.

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
