What I…
Know
Everything happens for a reason, even the things that hurt and are difficult to handle. Hard work pays off, always. Be yourself, if people don’t like it, they are not your people. Kindness and love are universal languages, so be kind to everyone – including yourself.
Love
Oh, this is going to be a long list! I love my beautiful wife and our little family, authentic Italian food, Table Mountain, sharp eyeliner and lots of mascara, the taste of a tall, ice cold gin and tonic at the end of a long week, ginger biscuits dunked in a good cuppa tea, spending time laughing with my friends and family, a good Victoria sponge cake (or cake in general) and chocolate – lots and lots of chocolate!
Read
A bit of everything, really. I don’t have a favourite genre, but I tend to pick up thrillers more than anything else. I also love reading lifestyle blogs and I still pick up my fave mags from the shop occasionally. There’s nothing quite like the feel of a magazine.
Want
Not a lot, to be honest. The physical things I want are necessities like being able to buy our house. The non-tangible things I want include spending more time with my friends and family, exploring more of the Western Cape, investing more time in doing things that make me happy and that I love, and not stressing so much.
Wear
Whatever I like and feel comfortable in. One valuable piece of advice my mum gave me was to wear whatever I feel comfortable in. I tend to dress for practicality and have made peace with the fact that I am no fashion guru.
I would say my daytime go-to outfit is a pair of skinny jeans and a tank top and, at night or for a fancier occasion, I tend to throw on a nice dress paired with some nude heels or fancy sandals or smart trousers and a blouse.
Need
To find more balance in my life and to stress less, both of which are easier said than done
Thanks for taking part in this interview series Claire! So great to have you.
