The blogging space in South Africa is alive and well – I’m reminded of this every time I search the internet for new bloggers to feature in my What I… blogger interview series and find brand new, beautiful blogs that suck me in!
One such recent discovery is Life By Asha Singh. Created in January 2017 by Asha as a way to explore her interest in current affairs and politics this little blog evolved into a leading South African millennial lifestyle blog.
21 year old Asha is passionate about feminism and politics, long walks on the beach, memes, road trips, Netflix binge watching sessions, memes, foreign language movies, video games and travel.

Before I do something crazy, scary or even just out of my comfort zone, the “motto” I live by is – “What’s the worst that can happen? You can die. And you’re gonna die anyway.” and that single piece of advice has led to some of my best decisions ever and some of the most memorable experiences of my life.
I know that it’s so important to put yourself out there. Even as a blogger, I wouldn’t have gotten half the opportunities I have if I didn’t put myself out there. Yes, rejection sucks. And yes, you’ll face A LOT of rejection in your lifetime. But it’s also such an important part of life – and having a healthy relationship with rejection is actually the best thing ever.
Fall down 7 times, get up 8.
I could say the typical “I love my family and friends” but the truth is, I love PEOPLE. I could say the typical I love “travel” but the truth is, I love experiencing life.
I love seeing people doing what they love, devoting their life to things they’re passionate about and living lives whereby they don’t dread “blue Mondays” like most of us. I love seeing how much the world is improving in terms of women’s rights and eradication of poverty and the fact that the world is the best it’s ever been in terms of these things (Although climate change and the natural environment is a whole other story). I love seeing people achieve great things that shape our lives and change the world we live in. I love seeing how technology is bringing us together
I also love makeup and sushi and Starbucks coffee. I love having lazy days in and watching Netflix and I also love going to music festivals and going on road trips. I love cheesy romcoms and Marvel movies. I love yoga and playing playstation and sharing memes on Facebook.
I love being able to be creative by writing, taking photos, making videos and just creating content. And I love that the universe has allowed us all these awesome creative outlets to express ourselves and make a sometimes monotonous life more bearable.
I read non-fiction, mainly current affairs and self-help books. Some books I’ve enjoyed lately are Girlboss, Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck.
I haven’t read much fiction since high school but my favorite fiction book is The Great Gatsby.
I read blogs. I read so many different blogs that it would take up the whole interview if I had to mention them all. Some blogs I love are Miss Dhanusha, Spice Goddess, Sheena D, In Africa And Beyond, Chelle MUA, Love Art By Neeta, Sasha’s Style, Style Your Confidence Now, The Glam Unicorn and, of course, Becoming You.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, my textbooks because #studentlife
Lots of money so that I can live the boujee instagram lifestyle.
On a serious note, I want to figure out what I want to do with my life. I’m 21 and still change my mind every second day about what I want to be when I “grow up”.
I want to move to a place that makes me feel like I belong, but I’m still not sure where.
I also want to bungee jump off the Soweto Towers this year. It’s something that’s been on my bucket list but it’s been on my mind so much lately that I know it needs to be done. (P.S it’s such a big deal because I’m terrified of heights!
Follow me on instagram and you’ll find out. LOL jk. I don’t really know how to describe my style because I don’t even know if I really have a set style. My essentials are shorts and high heels, Mainly because I love summer and I’m such a shorty. I don’t like handbags and tend to carry everything in my hand which I always regret because I always lose things.
More hours in the days. There are SO MANY things I want to do but there just isn’t enough time!
