Today I’m excited to share my space with one of the nicest bloggers around – Anje writes over at Going Somewhere Slowly and if you can’t tell by the blog title she is a travel blogger with a difference…
She describes herself as a South African Travel Addict, Coffee Junkie, Word Enthusiast, Bicycle Nut and Solo Globetrotter and her heart passionately pumps for street art, caffeine and sustainable, wildlife and cultural tourism as well as cycling adventures.
Read on to find out more about Anje…
Everything takes time; nature, success, passion and even our own hearts. This thing called life is a timely journey, a journey that can’t be rushed. I’ve realised that when I trust the process I always end up going on a few detours but I’ve never ended up in the wrong direction.
Travel: I feel most at home when I’m not at home and when I don’t have a place to call home; there’s a lot of gypsy in my soul.
South Africa: I’m head over heels in love with South Africa and all the natural beauty in our country.
Words: I’m smitten with words – writing words and reading words – a few letters strung together have the power to change my day within a second.
My Bicycle: I have a bicycle named, Koos, and we’ve been together since 2012 and have explored some roads in South Africa, Indonesia and South Korea – I celebrate Koos’ birthday every year with a candle, a piece of cake and an outing.
Social Media: Touch, connect, engage. I am a bit of a digital devotee and believe in the power of social media.
Coffee: I have a beautiful relationship with caffeine. It’s a brewing addiction. And I love themed cafes.
Non-fiction, biographies and travel-related books. I’m currently rereading Riaan Manser’s “Around Africa on my bicycle” and always try to keep up-to-date with my favourite travel blogs.
I want to experience the world in slow motion, keep on moving, help, learn, teach, listen to people’s stories and…not to be greedy, but I want a camera with wings. I was quite anti-drone at first but after seeing some footage all I can think about now is, drone, drone, drone.
And I want coffee.
Scarves, Converse, anything cheap and flip flops (preferably cheap flip flops that might last a few months before they get holey).
I need to explore more of the world in a slower than usual pace. I need to find the time to find that extra hour in the day and I need to take more chances.
And coffee. It’s a necessity.
