We recently went on a family fun day outing to the top of the Cape Town Big Wheel.
Anyway his was something I’d been keen to do since the large wheel first went up in the heart of the Waterfront… so when the time finally came I think I was more excited than the kids!
They were thrilled too, of course, to see the sights of the most popular tourist attraction in South Africa from a unique perspective and loved going round and round. I had thought they would be scared of heights but what this taught me is that as adults we are usually the one projecting our fears on our kids… they usually have no fear at all, obviously that is not ALWAYS a good thing. We need to instil some level of fear to protect them from themselves. But when it comes to things that are perfectly safe… we mustn’t let our own irrational worries cloud their excitement at trying something new!
We were lucky to enjoy a beautiful, wind-free day on our “flight” and had amazing views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill and the Waterfront and Harbour.
My kids loved it… and so did I! A real win for a fun family day outing.
