Weekend Wanderings – Wine tasting at Waterford

On public holidays I tend to like to get out of Cape Town and head off on a “Family Fun Day”. A few weeks back on a gift of a day we decided to head out into the Winelands for some exploring. We chose the Stellenbosch Wine Route this time and without much of plan headed off with a small map of the area to discover some new gems.

We stopped by a few with no luck and then we stumbled across Waterford. I’d often heard this wine farm mentioned with regards to their wine and chocolate pairing experience so I didn’t need much convincing that this was something we needed to do! As they had a beautiful sunny courtyard and space for the kids to run we sat down to enjoy their unique wine tasting experience….. Each wine was paired with a different Von Geusau chocolate and they each brought out the flavours in the other perfectly. We followed our tasting with a short wine cellar tour. We loved out time at Waterford and will definitely be back.

Which is YOUR favourite wine farm or winelands destination? I’m always keen to discover new ones to discover on our next day trip so please leave a comment below!

She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
