Winter in Cape Town is a surprising season… yes there is rain and cold BUT there is also an abundance of sunshine thrown in for good measure, for which, as a sunshine lover, I’m ever so grateful!
Unfortunately my son had a rugby match on (of which I managed to watch the first half), so I extended the invite to my nephew instead and off we went to summit the table top.
The day was filled with “firsts” for Abi and her “twin” cousin, Joey…
A first ride in a bus, a first ride in a cable car and a first view of their home town from above!
Even my sister, who joined me, hadn’t been to the top since we were kids on holiday with our Gran, enjoyed experiencing the “new” revolving cable car (next year it will be 20 years old!)
The kids had an absolute blast exploring the top – from climbing boulders, to scampering down paths, admiring the view, watching the brave abseilers and collecting stones in their pockets (we tipped them out, don’t worry!), they were kept active and entertained for ages… until their moms’ ran out of steam and we all headed to Cafe for a break… but not before taking a turn via the Shop at the Top so they could claim their sweet treat!
It was a great morning enjoying the natural beauty of Table Mountain and we all enjoyed being tourists for a day!
Cableway’s Kidz Season allows two kids (under 18) to ride for free with one paying adult who has purchased a return ticket online or from the Lower Cable Station. The offer runs from May 1 to September 30 and is valid on weekends, public holidays, and during the June and July school holidays!
Kids can enjoy a day of fun, food and natural beauty atop the “Table”. There’s even a kiddies’ treasure hunt and vouchers for 2 sweet treats at the top!
Please note: The Cableway will be closed from 25 July to 7 August 2016 for annual maintenance
