Weekend Wanderings – Stanford

Last weekend we were lucky enough to spend a two nights at the Mosaic Private Sanctuary on the Hermanus Lagoon near Stanford. (see more about that here!)

On Saturday we decided to take a trip back into the village and discover what this beautiful historical town has to offer. We have driven through it previously but never spent any length of time there so it was lovely to amble around at a leisurely pace.

Here are a few of my pics…

As you can see we wandered up the main street and stopped in at various shops, ate a delicious pie from the morning market and then we popped in at the Birkenhead Brewery for our very first beer tasting!

If you prefer wine tasting head further up the road to Raka Winery. We visited on a previous trip to the area when our Grootbos guide, Jo, took us on a little outing due to the wet weather!

On this previous visit to the area we also popped in at the Klein Rivier Cheese Factory which has the most delicious cheese, an amazing kids play area and petting zoo, unfortunately we left it too late this time and they were closed (remember to go on Saturday mornings before 1pm. They are also closed on Sundays!)

Another great spot for some wine tasting is the Sir Robert Stanford tasting room, and while you’re there enjoy a delicious lunch on the patio of Madre’s Kitchen!
