Last week I revived my Weekend Wanderings series and it’s a good thing I did because we had such a fab evening yesterday that I just had to share the pics first thing this morning….
Old Mutual Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are legendary events, a must-do if you find yourself in the Mother City during the summer months. They take place every Sunday evening and the line up of musical talent is amazing. We were fortunate enough to get tickets to see SA boys gone global – Civil Twilight – home for a few weeks from their new home base in the US.
The atmosphere at these packed concerts is always one of positivity and fun – every one of us soaking up the sun and enjoying time with friends all lucky enough to be enjoying the best the Cape has to offer – while being entertained by world class musical acts! It’s a hard life I know!!
We took a picnic and although we had planned to go as a family of 4 (yes, we took the kids to enjoy their first live music concert) we bumped into friends and joined our blankets together. The more the merrier is always the case here! It was lots of fun and our kids loved the experience and were (relatively) well behaved!
Here are a few pics of our evening…
As you can see my new hat got a lot of wear!! I’m having to fight to keep it on my own head and may need to “invest” in one for every member of my family!
If you haven’t yet made your way down to enjoy a picnic in possibly one of the best outdoor concert venues in the world, then don’t miss out. There is still an incredible line up of Summer Sunset concerts taking place at the Old Mutual Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts until the 6th of April including the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Hugh Masekela and Freshly Ground. Tickets go on sale every Tuesday for the concert taking place on the Sunday. But hurry – they sell out fast!!
