Tertia from So Close is arguably the most well known blogger in South Africa. Having started writing way back in the days before blogs were known as “blogs” (or somewhere around then), Tertia is well and truly a veteran of the industry! Tertia is also an incredible business woman and runs a very successful business called Nurture which is in the business of making families through egg donation and surrogacy.
I recall stumbling across Tertia’s blog in 2004 while sitting in a cubicle in London many km’s away from Sunny SA. Back then she connected me to the pulse of Cape Town and I was drawn in to following her life story – the many lows followed by some amazing highs. She is hysterically funny and a complete “over-sharer” which is why after having read her blog (and her book!) for so many years I feel like she is a friend who I have never met in real life!! If I recall So Close was probably the first blog I ever read – and look where that got me! Anyway I am so honoured to feature Tertia today in my “What I…” series… Take it away Tertia!
Life isn’t always fair and that’s ok. Sometimes bad things happen to good people – it isn’t anything you’ve done, it isn’t part of a bigger (bad) plan. You can either be a victim of your fate or you can take charge of your destiny. Live life to the fullest, take charge, have fun
My family. Very corny I know but I love them more than life itself.
Just about exclusively online. My iPad and I are BFF and do all my news / blog / other reading at night on my iPad before going to sleep
My children to be happy. If they are happy, I am happy.
Things that would make every self respecting fashionista die a thousand deaths. Comfort is key for me, I just can’t do frilly, fussy clothes that irritate.
More time! Like most other mothers I am over scheduled and under resourced. I need a clone. But in the meantime I will make do with a glass of wine and lots of deep breaths.
Thanks so much Tertia for taking the time to appear in this series! I might have just learnt something new about you that I didn’t know already 😉
