My Summer Beach Holiday essentials from Constantia Village Courtyard

Now we are well into November it means that summer is just around the corner, in fact, my own Summer Beach Holiday is happening this very week! Yes, I’m amazingly blessed to be headed off on a romantic Summer Beach Holiday with my husband for a few nights away (sans enfants!)

We are jetting off later tonight to a tropical beach paradise! I know, I know, you all are hating me right now…. But I’m ok with that. You see the last time I spent this amount of time alone with my husband was over 9 years ago. It’s time!

I’ve spent the last few days packing, packing and repacking. And then writing up a list of step-by-step instructions for the grandparents, packing my kids bags and school stuff and other paraphenalia… Is there ever going to be time when I only pack my own bag???

Back to my bags… I have been paying some attention to the types of things I’ll need to be taking with me on this trip and on a recent visit to Constantia Village Courtyard I found a few faves to add to my bag…. My Summer Beach Holiday Essentials!

This shopping centre might be small but it really does have a great selection of shops that makes it the perfect one stop shopping destination! As I’m heading to the beach and will need little more than a swimming costume (and sunscreen) I headed straight to Madison Boutique to try on a selection of their divine Maaji swimwear… It’s not cheap but it certainly is pretty and I fell in love with a full piece with sexy cutaways on the sides and some great boob support! I LOVE the print and pretty colours of this cossie so when wandering around the shops was inevitably drawn to all the other items that were bright and beautiful!

My next stop was at Mediterraneo for a sweet little summery dress in a light, white cotton for popping over my cossie when it’s time for lunch and a light-weight cotton jersey for once the sun’s gone down. I also adored their range of hand-made African beaded jewellery – and the gorgeous turquoise beads of this necklace work really well with my costume design as well as on it’s own with the white! So pretty

Down the drag from Mediterraneo is Mullers Optometrist and although I don’t wear glasses and ordinarily wouldn’t pop in here I found that they stock a great selection of stylish sunglasses like this funky green framed Oliver Peoples pair of sunnies!

My next stop was at Present Time and I found some really useful goodies for traveling – a few Glo-tags, to identify my bag, as well as a secure lock from the Go Travel range.

Present Time also had a great straw hat for the very reasonable price of only R109 which is an essential for those long days lounging in the sun!

Across from Present Time is Clicks and I popped in their to stock up on a few beauty essentials… namely a super hydrating tinted lip balm from Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream range. This lip protectant stick in Blush has a SPF 15 and contains Vit E to moisturise, smooth and soften lips and protect agains UV exposure.

Another essential when spending so much time in the sun is, of course, a high SPF sunscreen and the one I went for was Capital Soleil Hydrating Milk Skin Cell Sun Protection for Face & Body by Vichy as it has a SPF 50 and protects against UVA and UVB rays. It is non-perfumed, hypoallergenic, water resistant and contains no parabens. The product may be a bit pricey than the others on the shelves but what is worth noting is that the tube is in face 300ml when may others are only 125 or 150ml! Vichy have also recently released a BB Cream with SPF 50. It is a slightly tinted product with mattifying properties, making it great for those with oily/ combination skin.

And of course before hitting the white sandy beach I will want to make sure I’m not blending into the sand which is why I picked up a bottle of Tropitone’s Bronze It Self Tan Lotion!

Charlotte Rhys is another great destination for beauty and body buys! Two essentials items considering I’m traveling to the tropics were their Insect Repellant and Soothing Mist Spray (a must-have for air travel esp!)

Prepping your body for days on the beach in little more than a costume and cover-up is essential! Sorbet is a great spot to do a bit of pampering such as a mani, pedi or even waxing! I opted for a few of their  Sorbet branded products such as the Apricot Scrub (to prep my skin for the self-tan) and a Soothing Serum Brightening Mask to give my face a bit of extra moisture. I’m a huge fan of pretty nails and Morgan Taylor’s Get Sporty With It jumped out at me from the shelf – this super bright coral orange is perfect for pretty painted toe nails

After my beauty buys I headed over to Style Bar to stock up on hair products for my trip. I’m in love with anything Moroccanoil and headed straight for this section of their retail stand… As it’s summer and my hair is needing hydration I opted for the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the Styling Cream which is awesome to add to damp hair when you just want to wash and go and ignore the hair dryer… aka beach hair!

Last but not least no summer holiday is complete with out a little bit of adornment and I totally fell in love with Smith Jewellery’s range of beautiful beaten brass jewellery at Jin Jin Jewellery. I ADORE this cuff and am totally coveting it for Christmas (hint, hint husband) and the stunning chandelier earrings are equally gorgeous. Totally covet worthy!

So there you have it, a few of my favourite things for a Summer Beach Holiday

Here’s a recap of the items I think are essential:
