Restaurant Review: Strolla Restaurant, Sea Point

Sunday afternoons are about family…. but so often life can get so busy that we forget that we’re meant to take some time out of our crazy schedules and just rest, right!

As a family we often buzz from one outing or activity to the next with little time to just unwind together as an awesome foursome, so when I was invited to pop in to Strolla for a weekend lunch I chose to do it on a Sunday, and it was great!

We parked our car near the Sea Point beach front and strolled over the road to Strolla for a Sunday lunch as a family.

Located just at the far end of Sea Point’s busy promenade, alongside the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel and just near the Queen’s Beach bus station, Strolla is fun, fresh and funky – with a terrace near the bar where you can hangout in the sunshine and an interior restaurant that’s classy and comfortable.

We loved the relaxing ambience and it would appear so did the other groups of friends and families gathered together enjoying the chance to catch-up in the winter sun.

After ordering our drinks and letting the kids decide what they wanted to eat we were also able to enjoy a few moments of quiet time to catch up together while they headed in to the convenient kids’ room located within watching distance of our table! Here a lego wall, puzzles, games and an Xbox kept them busy until their tummies told them it was time to return to the table…

My daughter is a burger girl which she hoovered down with gusto, while my son opted to order the calamari from the kiddies menu but requested a double portion… he is a growing 10-year-old and quite rightly pointed out that usually kids portions don’t quite fill his appetite!

The main menu has a large variety of small dishes for those looking for a quick snack, but also a selection of Pizza’s and other more soul satisfying options…

My husband opted for Smoked Barbecue Pork Short Ribs while I chose the winter winner of a Butter Chicken Curry that came with jasmine rice and sambals… It was just what a Sunday lunch should be – filling, warming and delicious.

We rounded off the meal with a slice of Cheesecake and a serving of Tiramisu for dessert which both didn’t live up to our expectations unfortunately… The kids definitely got the better deal with their decadent chocolate sundae topped with chocolate sauce and marshmallows!

And the best way to round off a visit to Strolla? A stroll along the Sea Point promenade of course to burn off all those extra calories… and kids energy so that you can ensure a Sunday afternoon snooze on your return home!
