I used the Revlon ColorStay which is available in two variants: Combination/Oily and Normal/Dry.
I mean hello Revlon are basically giving you everything you need on a platter, just short of actually sending a makeup artist to apply it for you on a daily basis 🙂
I picked up the Normal/Dry as I sometimes prefer a foundation that I can powder down in certain areas as opposed to an all-over matte foundation.
This version also has SPF and I’m sure by now everyone knows my love for SPF foundations (it means less layering of products underneath foundation) The staying power is really good, although I do get a little oily on my T-zone, but this usually happens by the end of the day with any foundation.
I haven’t experienced any oxidisation or pore eating (that look you get when everything settles into your pores and you kind of look pixelated!) I am such a fan of this foundation and it is definitely one of my tops for pharmacy foundations.
Since we are coming out of winter I have had to add a few of my trusty Body Shop Shade adjusting drops (lightening), which, if you are super pale are amazing to keep in your makeup drawer (because who has money to keep buying new shades of foundation depending on the seasons!)
The concealer I chose to use is the Rimmel Wake Me Up one. (Unfortunately this is not available in South Africa yet.)
This product has been so hyped about on YouTube and blogs overseas for ages, but I am here to tell you that it definitely didn’t blow my mind! The consistency it is quite thin and doesn’t offer much coverage.
I think if you don’t suffer with dark under-eye bags then I think it will be a great brightening product, but if you are looking for something that has full coverage – this is not the one!
For this look I used the Revlon Colourstay Quad in 16. I mean just look at these four shades, can it get any more perfect for a no fuss day?
We have a gorgeous gold, pink and champagne shimmer shade as well as a burgundy brown shade.
This quad is great for a sweep of colour or if you are wanting to smoke things up the brown works great in the crease and the lasting power is amazing with no creasing!
Next up we have LOV cosmetics Forbidden mascara. This is such a goodie, the brush is kind of like a twisted fiber brush, but it really gives the lashes a full and lengthened look for a WOW eyelash look.
It doesn’t transfer or give me panda eyes and the formula is the right amount of wet to dry ratio. I also find that even though it packs such a punch on the results side it doesn’t leave my lashes feel crispy or crunchy in anyway, it’s such a great mascara!!
Blush and Highlight…
MAC Cosmetics Warm Soul and Lightscapade duo is my absolute favourite.
Warm Soul is such a universal ‘warm’ shade blush that works on pretty much all skin tones. It’s a gorgeous pinky burgundy shade with flecks of gold glitter and, to be honest, you don’t need an added highlighter when using this, I am just so extra when it comes to highlighter – I always want to SHINE BRIGHT!
MAC’s Lightscapade is one of the best highlighters I have in my collection.. (Thank you Rayne!) It is a perfect inner glow highlighter and doesn’t tend to sit on top of foundation but rather blends in seamlessly and gives the perfect amount of glow to the cheeks.
MAC Viva Glam Lady Gaga in bubblegum pink is a stunning transition shade from winter to summer. It’s not too bright, but more of a milky pink shade that I think will suit most skin types.
The formula is not too chalky but very creamy, which means it doesn’t last too long on the lips and will need a top up throughout the day.
What are you favourite makeup items when transitioning into summer? I’d love to hear from you so please leave a comment below!
