Spring is here in all it’s glory and I’m really loving the sunshine, birdsong and gorgeous scents wafting through my home from the flowering bushes just outside my window! It really is a beautiful time of the year!
To get into the “spring” of things I paid a visit to Constantia Courtyard recently to select a few of my favourite things for Spring…
I had a lovely afternoon browsing round the shops – there is a lovely selection of boutiques selling a variety of clothing, accessories, gifts and home decor items plus a stunning new hair salon, a spot to indulge in some pamper time and a lovely coffee shop to enjoy a break from buying!
So read on to discover a few of my favourite finds…
As you can see the things that caught my eye all seemed to be from a very pretty palette of Spring inspired colours – seafoam, turquoise, pink, watermelon, coral, silver, lilac and white! Love this colour combination!
I started my browsing at one of my most frequented spots in Constantia Courtyard – Clicks! I find myself here often, but usually in the pharmacy queue!! This time I headed to the beauty section which is really well stocked with a big selection of budget beauty brands. My first find was the lovely L’oreal Color Riche L’Extraordinarire Liquid Lipstick. I LOVE the texure of this lip gloss/ stick and it has a subtle spring-like scent. My favourite colour for spring is Rose Finale, a pretty light pink. (R169.95)
Another great find on the shelves of Clicks was Bioderma Solution Micellaire Sensibio H2O. I’ve read so much about this cult beauty product and noticed it appearing on the shelves and in the makeup bags of many a model so I have been meaning to try this for myself for months. It cleanses, removes makeup and soothes skin. From what I’d read it promised to be a makeup remover of note, suitable for face & eyes, and since I’ve been using it I haven’t returned to any other cleanser – it is great! Totally worth the spend. (R197)
Next I popped next door to the NEW Style Bar hair salon (click this link to read my previous post). The great news is that they have a large selection of fab hair products from all the big name hair brands. My spring suggestions are Paul Mitchell Moisture Mist, a hydrating spray in conditioner perfect for warmer weather when you just want to wash and go (and equally great to use for beachy waves!!), a pack of Invisibobble hair bands in a pretty turquoise and a large Tangle Teezer from their new pastel range – all ideal solutions for fuss-free hair… (Paul Mitchell Moisture Mist – R195, Invisibobble (pack of 3) – R80, Tangle Teezer – R230 )
Right next door to Style Bar is Sorbet – a great spot to pop in to for all your beauty needs! They offer mani’s and pedi’s to go and even have a few treatments rooms upstairs for those treatments that require a bit more privacy eg facials and waxing!! They also have some of my favourite beauty brands including Dermalogica, essie and Morgan Taylor however the one that jumped out at my was the Sprayology range, these are homeopathic oral sprays that are created to combat certain health issues. They are all natural with no artificial flavours or colours, gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.
The one I selected as a spring essential is called AllergEase – and it does exactly what the name suggests! With just a few sprays daily it helps to relieve allergy symptoms such as runny nose, itchy eyes, rashes, headaches and sneezing. As it is hay fever central in our house at the moment this product has been used by all members of the family daily! Currently there is also a great special on at Sorbet where if you buy one Sprayology product you get a second one for FREE! Others in the range include Daily Multivitamin, SleepEase, Diet Power and Stress Relief plus lots of other options. (Usual price – R250, On Special – R125 each)
It was then time for a browse around Still.life – one of the newest shops to open in this little centre. It is filled with all sorts of home decor from cushions, to posters and lovely ceramics. For spring I selected a very “sweet” little sugar bowl and spoon in white with a little bunny figure on the top! (R165) See pic below!
I then popped in at Jin Jin Jewellery – a treasure trove of sparkling things for spring! What girl doesn’t love a jewellery store and this one is well worth a visit. It’s become one of my “go to” places for gifts for my girlfriends as there are always pretty new additions available to suit every budget! At the moment I’m really loving the layering of delicate silver chains and I adore these two – both in sterling silver.I. Wouldn’t mind adding both of them to my collection! What is great about the “initial” necklace is that you can have it stamped customised with any letter of your choosing or even a combo. (Starfish necklace – R290), Initial necklace – R300)
Another pretty find at Jin Jin perfect for spring is this delicate coral beaded necklace with the super sweet Little Bird pendant! (R590)
Across the passage from Jin Jin is the stunning Madison Boutique, home of my favourite Maaji swimwear. But what you may not know is that Maaji do in fact also produce a range of other items in their beautifully bright quirky prints! I came across their sneakers and just ADORE the colours and patterns – so much fun! Sneakers are great shoes for Spring when you’re not always sure what the weather is going to do and this particular patchwork pair have the perfect colour combo for the season of Coral, Mint & Lilac Coveting them something proper! (R1560)
And if you’re not quite sure what to pair these pretty shoes with then I suggest sticking with solid brights – colour blocking is still a big trend for the season. I selected two gorgeous pieces from Anna Scott, also available at Madison, as the perfect outfit to wear for spring – A pretty mint blouse and a pair of melon coloured pants. Love the soft colours and gorgeous fabrics of this range so much! (Blouse – R1370, Pants – R1480)
A sweet little shop perfect for picking up a present for a girl friend or teacher is Charlotte Rhys – her black and white packaged body products and home scents are synonymous with luxury and adored the world over, but I headed to the other side of the shop and picked out one of her brighter offerings from the Yum range. The Body Silk in Lotus & Dragonfruit is a lovely, light body cream perfect for the warmer weather! (
Another great spot for picking out the perfect pressie is Present Time – my favourite find here was this beautiful Luna Porcelain Vista Votive tea light candle holder. I’ve seen these in some of my friends’ home and really loved them as they look stunning when lit by a tealight candle I’m super keen to get my own hence it being on my list of favourites! They come in a variety of designs but the butterfly design seemed the most appropriate for spring! (R155)
Lastly I popped in to Melissa’s Food Shop, a very popular spot for coffee or lunch, but this time I spent some time at the back of the store among the shelves of delicious deli delights! I loved the very pretty greeny blue jug (pictured above) and as a nougat fan there new range caught my eye especially the Strawberry and Fragrant Elderflower flavours! (Jug – RR198, Nougat – R34 each)
