I won’t lie… I love a bit of a pamper. In fact, truth be told, if I had an endless budget I would certainly allocate a fair portion of it to monthly beauty treats! A monthly massage, facial, pedi, mani wouldn’t go amiss, right!?
But my budget being what it is I can only spoil myself occasionally, fortunately these days, with super spots like Sorbet salons in almost every mall, it’s a bit more affordable and more convenient to indulge…
Recently I was invited to pop in to the Cavendish Square Sorbet to experience some of their services. I chose a morning and set off, ready for my morning of Me Time.
First up was a Gelish power pedi – an essential for summer!
Feet take a beating in summer with our summer shoes of choice being slip slops, sandals and even bare feet, our heels can take strain leading to ugly, cracked heels that can be very painful indeed.
First my therapist showed me the array of Gelish colours to choose from and I went with a pretty coral colour – one of my faves for summer!
Then I settled into the comfortable lazy boy style chair, opened a magazine and sank my feet into the warm water. This was my position for 1 whole hour as my therapist set to work soaking, scrubbing, filing, buffing until my feet felt like new and my toes sparkled!
Total Bliss!
Gelish pedicures really are the way forward if you’re heading off on holiday. My nails continued to look good for almost 3 weeks – and only started to look at bit worse for wear when the Gelish actually started growing out. I highly recommend opting for a Gelish pedicure over a normal nail polish one. The only downside is returning to the salon to have it taken off. But there are ways to do this at home too (which is what I did). Just ask Google!
As if that wasn’t heaven enough it was then time for my 30 minute Environ DF Precision Facial…
My lovely therapist showed me down the hidden passage to a quite, dark room (the favourite kind of room of mothers everywhere!) I changed into my robe and placed myself into the warmed bed where I stayed cocooned for the next while. Magic!
This facial is recommended for those with skin that needs hydration and is starting to show signs of ageing – both me! As I’m now in my LATE 30’s I’m certainly seeing the signs of ageing creep across my face. Dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles, light pigmentation spots and dull skin. Plus I have rosacea to contend with too…
My therapist was so lovely with a very calm nature. She put me at ease immediately with her caring, gentle nature. A key element of having such a personal treatment is to feel comfortable with the person who is getting so up close and personal with you and I really felt that despite never having met her until 5 mins before!
Environ is one of the best anti-ageing skincare ranges on the market and Environ-Vitamins A, C & E skin range was voted as one of the top ranges for Facial treatments. Developed by South African plastic surgeon Dr Des Fernandes, the cornerstone of Environ is vitamin A and other absorbable fresh anti-oxidants such as vitamins C, E and beta-carotene.
Vitamin A has a corrective effect on the skin, smoothing and softening it while protecting it from the damaging, ageing effects of ultraviolet radiation and other pollutants. It promotes the production of healthy collagen and elastin and improves the skin’s natural moisture, leading to healthy, younger-looking skin.
Best results are achieved with 4 – 6 weekly maintenance treatments but I certainly noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin. I left feeling much more hydrated and with the fine lines less visible.
For convenience and affordability you still can’t beat Sorbet when it comes to mani’s, pedi’s and quick beauty treatments. I was blown away by the service – from the front desk to the pedi chair and the facial bed. All the therapists I had interactions with were friendly and professional – testament to the excellent training all Sorbet therapists are taken through.
After my treatments I browsed through the pretty retail section of the store – the perfect spot to buy a birthday treat for a friend or gift for a teacher as many of the gift bags contain products AND a voucher to redeem in store on a treatment.
Another top tip about Sorbet is that they are launching an amazing new makeup range in March. Yes Sorbet Makeup is (almost) here!
I attended the beauty launch yesterday and I can’t wait to try out some of the products and report back to you asap on all my faves.
In the meantime here are a few pics of what you can look forward to, including 28 shades of foundations in 4 different textures! These were all created with South African skin tones in mind with research from The Skin Tone Project . This nationwide project saw Sorbet testing 3000 women so that they could create a foundation range that would match to all South African skin tones… giving Sorbet one of the most extensive ranges in South Africa.
If you want to find out what your perfect match is be sure to visit a Sorbet salon (or participating Clicks stores) from March to experience their Foundation Match-Me services which will help you to find your perfect match to suit your complexion.
But they don’t only have foundations… the entire range will blow you away! From liquid eyeliners to luscious lipsticks, professional tools, and fabulous highlighters, bronzers and blushers!
