Spa Review: Scrub, Rub & Glow Spa Treatment from Mio at The Spa at The 12 Apostles

One of my favourite brands is Mio (previously Mama Mio) and I’ve been lucky enough to try quite a few of their amazing products over the past few years.

I always love adding a new product to my collection, but although I’ve heard so much about their spa treatments, until recently I was yet to experience one for myself!

So when I was offered the opportunity to see what the Mio spa treatments are all about I jumped at the chance – which mom wouldn’t?? Fortunately my appointment happened to be a few days before my birthday which made it really well timed too!

Mio is the fit skin range, created to give you smooth, firm, gorgeously fit skin that glows with health and happiness. Their high intensity, high energy body treatments target the key concerns of women – cellulite, tummies, boobs and upper arms – but these are no ordinary spa treatments.

I was treated to the recently rebranded The Smoothie – now called The Scrub, Rub & Glow Treatment. It is a blissful body beautifying treatment that exfoliates and massages at the same time, leaving your skin super smooth and your mind stress-free!

This Mio treatment involves each part of your body being exfoliated with a gentle scrub and this is then followed by a lovely moisturising massage with the wonderfully hydrating Mio Body Oil.

Get wickedly soft skin and a mind melting massage in one heavenly treatment. Our gentle yet super effective hydrating body buff will transform rough, dull skin into silky, touchable, healthy, fit skin, followed by a soothing Swedish massage to increase circulation, ease tension and remind you how to relax.

My therapist, Jane, was really lovely, my Scrub, Rub & Glow treatment started with a foot soak after which she spent time ensuring I was warm and comfortable in my cocoon before starting to work on each part of my body. Each area is first exfoliated and then immediately moisturised – starting with the back of each leg, then my back, neck and shoulders followed by arms and then the front of each leg. A luxurious scalp massage half-way through the treatment was an unexpected bonus – for me nothing beats a scalp massage!! After 75 minutes, my treatment was over and I was left to soak in a blissful relaxed state for as long as I felt comfortable – it was heavenly to just lie on the bed and breathe in the gorgeous Mio aromas!

Afterwards my skin felt hydrated and rejuvenated and super soft too! This is a great treatment to have during winter if you’re looking to remove dry skin and invigorate your lymphatic system during the sluggish winter months, it’s equally great if you’re looking to get your skin into shape before revealing all in summer! It would also be a great treatment for the man in your life – us woman are not the only ones who could do with some skin buffing!

Finally it was time to surface and enjoy some of the other facilities available to enjoy at the incredible Twelve Apostles Spa

This was my first visit to this gorgeous space and I was excited to find out about all their options available to spa guests including hot and cold pools and a tranquility lounge. I decided to head downstairs and try my first ever flotation in the salt pool – a similar experience to the Dead Sea and with numerous health benefits!

Unfortunately my time was cut short by my mom duties – the school run beckoned but I headed off into the afternoon feeling suitable relaxed and ready to face whatever life had to throw at me! I loved my first Mio spa treatment and I can’t wait to enjoy one of their other offerings… Preggy moms will be pleased to know there are even a few treatments that are suitable during pregnancy!
