Rubybox March 2013

Last week I received my first ever Rubybox – I’m not new to the beauty box idea as I have blogged about it previously when I reviewed Glossybox and always looked forward to receiving my surprise box in the mail, however, since Glossybox are no longer I decided it would be a good time to discover what Rubybox is all about!

I received the March 2013 box and here is a vlog revealing the contents of my box…

For those not able to view the vlog, my box contained the following items:

2 x Rubybox Headbands (full size) Cute hair accessories in white and fuschia with studded detail – great to use when applying makeup or skin products or as a fashion item. I think I’m going to have competition with my daughter for these!!

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio and Gioia (fragrance samples for Men and Women) The men’s fragrance is my absolute favourite cologne/ aftershave for men EVER. It is a classic, fresh smell. One I think is super sexy… I bought the full size for my husband as a gift and always appreciate him wearing it which is never enough in my book – he could wear it everyday. I wouldn’t complain 😉

I had not been exposed to the complementary women’s fragrance so it was great to be able to try it out. The perfume is clean and fresh with a citrus top note. I’m no expert or “nose” but I do love to discover new perfumes and to “mix things up a bit” instead of wearing my usual “signature” scent all the time. This is a very pleasant alternative and a lovely new discovery. According to the product info this is a “mojito-inspired blend of crushed mint leaves, brown sugar and Italian Limone zest” and if it involves cocktails I’m totally find with that!

Scwarzkopf Gliss Satin Smooth Shampoo (sample size) I do prefer my products to be more natural esp shampoo but lately I’ve been struggling to find the best “natural” shampoo to tame my wild mane! This shampoo is especially formulated to tackle frizz and has taming and shining properties – which all speak my language. My hair is super thick and very dry at the ends so I’m trying out plenty of options to “kill the frizz”. Now that winter is on the way and there’s lots more moisture in the atmosphere in my part of the world this product looks like it will be a good bet considering it’s claims to withstand the most demanding climatic conditions such as humidity, gusty winds and thundershowers!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara (full size) A lovely addition to the beauty box that Rubybox supplies is that almost every month there is a full sized product for you to try. This month’s mascara was perfectly timed as I am in the market for a new one. Rimmel is one of my mascara brands of choice but I had not seen Scandal eyes before. The super-sized brush is certainly something to get used to but I certainly achieved extra length and definition using this product. One to “look” out for!
