A family-friendly lunch in the winelands at Rotisserie Restaurant at Leopards Leap

In our busy lives time with family is precious and rare, there are not many weekends when we are not busy with school, sport or family obligations taking up our time. A few weekends back we decided to carve our some special time for just the 4 of us. (Team Rossiter as we like to call ourselves!)

We set it in the diary and blocked out a Sunday afternoon for us…  After the mayhem of the 4th term and the stress of exam season it was so lovely to have a blissful afternoon with no commitments.

To ensure ultimate relaxation we headed out to Franschhoek for a leisurely lunch at Leopards Leap’s Rotisserie Restaurant so no one needed to cook or prepared food and we could all sit back and enjoy time catching up.

Rotisserie Restaurant is family-friendly with lots of tables, kids meal options, a relaxed ambience and plenty of space for the kids to release their energy. There is wine tasting bar and relaxed lounge areas for those who prefer the comfort of couches.

The restaurant is friendly and informal and filled with families and friends enjoying time together.

This is an ideal spot to visit with a larger group – for a family birthday or special occasion as the buffet style meal set up makes dining with a group easy – everyone can select their own meat dish from the carvery and then pile their plates high with salads and sides from the abundant selection on offer on the Harvest Table that features veggies sourced from the on site herb and veggie garden.

When it comes to meat options there are usually at least 4 options available on the spit include Lamb, Chicken and Pork. The pricing is based on your main meat selection and then the weight of your sides.

The food offering is uncomplicated with a variety of fresh, seasonal food on offer. We enjoyed the Traditional Babootie as well as the Karoo Lamb Shank.

There is also an array of farm-baked breads, pastries and cakes while dessert consists of individual portions of delights such as mini carrot cakes, cheese-cakes, chocolate mousse and Tiramisu.

After making our dessert selection from the exciting array on offer we headed out to the huge bean bags scattered in the garden to enjoy some lazy lounging on the lush green lawn. Here we all sunk into the comfy seats and kicked off our shoes and enjoyed a glass of Leopards’ Leap wine while spending quality leisure time catching up with our kids and making memories.

She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!
