Fragrance File: Roberto Cavalli Florence Review

My very first foray into the world of Roberto Cavalli is with this luxurious new scent created by perfumer Marie Salamagne and inspired by the Italian city of ‘light and delight’ known for its opulence, art and flowers…. Florence by Roberto Cavalli

Florence is known for its fabulous flowers – the name Florence originally comes from Latin Florentia, “flowering”. It is a city that harmoniously balances nature and culture, past and present, splendor and joie de vivre which is exactly what this fabulous fragrance does too!

Did you know?

Although the modern version of perfume is widely thought to have originated in France, the man who took perfume to Paris was originally from Florence.

In 1533 Catherine de’ Medici, engaged to the king of France, travelled to Paris and took her personal perfumier, Renato Bianco, with her. Renato specialised in making perfume and opened the first ever perfume shop in Paris. He developed fragrances mainly as ‘potions’ to attract love.

Florence by Roberto Cavallie is a luminous ode to the most refined Italian city – whether in the form of art, sculpture, painting, architecture or landscaping.

The Scent

A dramatic, yet elegant fragrance, Florence is a modern chypre-floral scent with citruses, tangy-fruity notes and sweet floral notes.

Fruits and citruses open the composition, symbolizing life and energy, and continue in the heart blending with a radiant flower bouquet blending gentle orange blossom and zesty grapefruit petals. This delicate combination is highlighted by slightly musky hibiscus seeds that add a touch of exoticism and mystery.

The contrasting notes of sweet Blackcurrant and tangy Mandarin essence create an initial explosion of life and energy that fades out to be warmed by the luxurious chypre signature – a combination of mesmerizing patchouli, luminous amber and sensuous musk.

The Bottle

Florence is housed in a gorgeous gold and purple faceted bottle that would look striking on any dressing table!

It’s round shape, compact design and heavy glass make it a joy to hold and behold.

The Campaign

A tale of ‘fascination and desire that takes place in the secret gardens of a Florentine mansion’.

The film, shot by Nicolas Garnier, introduces Shlomit Malka as the face of the new fragrance, who possesses the ‘luminous quality and natural elegance’ that defines the Roberto Cavalli Florence woman.

Who Wears Florence by Roberto Cavalli?

The Roberto Cavalli Florence woman reflects a combination of audacity, beauty, and sensuality.

Naturally elegant, effortlessly sophisticated, she radiates charm and confidence.

My thoughts

Cavalli’s fragrances are unashamedly sexy, Florence, however, is more sensual than sexy.

This opulent fragrance is perfect for cooler climates and wintery evenings as it leaves a musky trail of drama wherever it goes, and it certainly goes the distance!
