A few weeks back while walking through one of my favourite little shopping centres in Constantia I noticed a new hair salon had opened.
Well, the truth is that the old hair salon (which I had never paid attention to before) had actually had a revamp and in it’s place was the very modern and stylish, Style Bar!
What first attracted me to Style Bar was the lovely bright display wall showcasing some of my favourite hair products (and ones I’ve yet to try too) and then after peeking past the wall of wonder, I discovered a stunning space, just the kind of place I’d like to retreat to for a bit of revamping of my own!
Lately my hair has NOT been my crowning glory… in fact it’s been looking decidedly due for a cut and colour. And as Spring is in the air I figured it’s time to do something fresh, so I scheduled myself in for a few an appointment….
The night before I spent some quality time on Pinterest, browsing a few pins I’d previously made on my Hair Cuttin’ board and then scrolling through for some ideas from some of my favourite celebs. The next morning I checked in with my 4-year-old fashion consultant on her thoughts. When she confirmed the exact same look I liked the most, I knew which one to show my hair stylist!
Armed with my iPad and Pinterest board I arrived at Style Bar and immediately I knew I was going to enjoy a lovely morning of pampering. Being a Monday morning the salon was tranquil and calm, a welcome change from the usual frenetic hairdryer carcophony!
After a brief chat with my stylist about the colour option I was keen on for my highlights, I settled in with a cup of tea and a few magazines for a few hours of “me time”. Heaven!
Eventually it was time for the shampoo & rinse with the new BC range from Schwarzkopf, but first a silver shampoo with violet to tone down the brassy-ness of my quick-to-turn-orange hair! This was followed by a Aqua oleum Kerastase treatment (only avail in salons) to add moisture to my dry tresses and then, THE MOST AMAZING HEAD MASSAGE IN THE WORLD. Just amazing. These were some skilled fingers, and every time I thought it would end, my lovely shampooist just kept going… if I hadn’t already, I fell in love right then and there with Style Bar!
Finally, it was time for my trim. As I’d chosen to change up the colour quite a bit I didn’t feel too ready to opt for a huge change in style. I love my long locks and as long as I still enjoy wearing my hair long them, I think I’ll keep opting for a trim rather than a chop! Still, it’s always nice to have a few cm’s chopped off for a cleaner look and I left feeling very satisfied with my updated Spring look! I’ll definitely be going back to Style Bar soon…
