I was recently invited to review The Butcher Shop restaurant and it happened to coincide with the week of our wedding anniversary so my husband and I too ourselves off to enjoy a night on the other end of town – Mouille Point – just opposite the lighthouse to be exact. And boy was it worth the drive!
The Butcher Shop is an upmarket dining experience and the restaurant was heaving for a Monday night – definitely a good sign.
Upon arrival we were shown to one of the various layers of the restaurant that ensured intimacy even amidst the crowds.
I opted to order a salad starter – a haloumi cheese and calamari combo which was delicious. My husband opted for thick cut bacon steaks.
For mains we both ordered fillet steak and as the restaurant is well-known as an amazing steak house we knew we couldn’t really go wrong and we definitely didn’t. It was amazing. Probably the best we’ve ever had.
Then for dessert we celebrated the special occasion with a creme brulee and my husband chose an amazing ice cream with fruit and nuts which I may have helped him with, alot!
Here are a few of my Instagrams from the night…
We had a great time at The Butcher Shop. The service from our waiter, Simba, was amazing – you could tell he loved his job and took pride in giving us awesome service. I loved the electric atmosphere – you could tell people were really enjoying themselves and that is a sign of a really great restaurant!
Although this is probably more of business lunch or client supper kinda spot due to the rather high prices (Our bill for 3 courses and 2 glasses of wine plus tip was just under R1000!), we really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to people who love their steak – you’d struggle to find better in Cape Town!
