When I was planning my first born’s nursery during my pregnancy I remember how excited I was to pick a theme and hunt around for all the items I need to pull it all together… first time pregnancies allow plenty of time to spend on these sorts of things don’t they!!
Anyway my chosen theme was Beatrix Potter based on the idea that if my baby was a boy it would be called Benjamin (Bunny)… as it turns out he was… thank goodness because I wasn’t too sure on Jemima or Tabitha as girls names. Anyway 7 years ago there was no one stop shop for all the themed items so I found wall decals at Builders Warehouse, embroidered linen at Mama’s Wool, toys and scatter cushions on sale at Kids Emporium and a mobile bought online and brought over by some good friends. It all came together so beautifully and I loved the process and the product… so much so that I reused them for my daughters nursery!
Recently I popped in at a sweet children’s decor shop called Rabbit & Wood and discovered everything one would need for a Beatrix Potter themed nursery… Can I do mine all over again please? They also stock Winnie-the-Pooh themed bits! There is an array of lovely things for a special baby room – nostalgic nautical niceties and classic comfortable clothing from ranges such as Hush, Phoebe & Floyd and Sticky Fudge plus loads of lovely baby goodies incl the very covetable Sophie the Giraffe.
Here are a few pics I snapped of the space…

Good day, I’m interest in a cot bumper set with Peter rabbit but with a splash of pink. Our room theme is bunnies and would like some classic linen. Please advise cost and if you deliver to Jhb thanks
Good day
Could you please send me an email regarding your Beatrix Potter goodies, my daughter is 3 and I would love to change the theme of her bedroom. I’m interested in the letters and maybe you could let me know what else you have.
Thanks a million
Hi Melissa
Thanks for your comment however this blog post was written a few years ago and I’m not sure if the store is still in existence. Maybe you can try to look up Rabbit & Wood. They were based in Newlands, Cape Town
