This competition is open to all South African readers.

With Christmas looming large I have decided to start getting my shopping done a bit earlier this year and have started putting together my lists to plan what to buy for who… With the worldwide (and personal) economy not doing too well I’m trying to keep costs down so am aiming for small but special gifts. From experience the best gifts are those that are personal, handmade or unique. At my recent birthday I received one such gift – a set of personalised drinks coasters featuring my cute kids and our family holiday. Such a lovely treat from my usually very disorganised present-buying husband! This time he chose the pics himself and surprised me with this great gift. I felt very special.

Polacoaster is a new company based in South Africa. They create handmade multi-functional coasters using your own photographs. These coasters can be used in the traditional sense – to protect your tables from hot and cold drinks (and act as a conversation starter at the same time!). They can also be displayed on your fridge as they contain magnets and what better way to ensure that your favourite photos are displayed for the world to see rather than sitting on your computer hard drive! Especially great for grandparents to showcase their growing grandkids! Polacoaster have even created “Save the Date” and unique Wedding Invitations!

Polacoaster travel

As I mentioned my selection of Polacoasters showcase my cute kids and our favourite holiday spot but you could branch out and use any image you choose – one that represent you or your company, matches your decor or displays your funky instagram photography… You choose! For ideas visit the Polacoaster gallery. To place an order before the Christmas rush contact them here.

  1. My favourite holiday spot is none other than Cape Town. The Mother City rocks and I visit her twice a year. I just LOVEe Simonstown, the Boulders Beach is awesome!! I visit all the sightseeing places each time I step into the Mother City. Wow!! Even our very own Table Mountain has been voted one of the 7 wonders of nature!! Should I win I would want my favourite Cape Town spot featured my Polacoaster. I would love a daily indulgence of my hot & cold drinks with Cape Town in front of me. I have reshared this post both on facebook and twitter.

  2. Our wedding day was an absolute fairytale. My real-life-prince and I shared the most magical day of our lives together at Simondiums Country Lodge in Franschhoek. This romantic, vintage wonderland was the perfect setting for our timeless tale. What better way to remember these special moments than to have them displayed on POLACOASTERS on our coffee table in our love nest? Should I win this competition, these gorgeous POLACOASTERS would feature photography by Mitch Wong-Ho, telling all who see them about a true love story that will never end.

  3. I would definitely use some of our favourite pics from our Mauritius Holiday last year as well as our 3 beautiful boys and give them as a gift to my husband who works in Lagos. This way, he can have them in his office and always be reminded of why he sacrifices so much every day and how much his family loves and appreciates everything he does for them.

  4. Photo of my gorgeous children, sharing a beautiful moment together….. I would love to win and give the present to Malaika (my daughter) for her to share with the family!

  5. I would love to win – my baby brother is getting married on the 10th December and I would love to gift him the coasters with special photo’s of this amazing occasion! He lives in the UK so I will have to sneak one of myself in to remind him of his amazing sister 🙂

  6. I would love to win and have my recent trip to Cape Town immortalised on my coasters, what better way to remember an unforgettable trip?

  7. My husband and I went on our long-dreamed-about holiday in September – a cruise on the Mediterranean! I would love to have some of our special memories made into Polacoasters – who wouldn’t want to gaze at pics of the Amalfi Coast in Italy, the French Rivera or gorgeous Spain!!
