Thanks to my beautiful sister-in-love, Kirsty, for this makeup review as one of my Beauty Babes. She’s a legit professional makeup artist so I totally trust her opinion on all things makeup so check out what she has to say in her GOSH makeup review.
GOSH, the beauty brand from Denmark has been around for more than 25 years. GOSH is available in South Africa at Edgars, Truworths, Red Square, Foschini and Zando.
I have recently tried the Primer Plus which I absolutely loved so I was very excited to try these products as I have really enjoyed the brand. I love that it’s fashionable, on trend and affordable.
Liquid Matte Lips in 009 The Red
First up was the Liquid Matte Lips in The Red. Now this is a true red if ever you were looking for one. I am always on the look out for longwearing lip colours for my kit and this one totally surprised me. I expected to just have a matte finish lippy, but to my surprise is lasted a good couple of hours (around 5 or 6!) The ultimate test for me was when I wore it to an audition where I danced, sang, sweated and snacked in between and it stayed!
Bonus product features are that it’s fragrance free, paraben free, vegan friendly and preservative free. It comes in 9 different matte shades, has a soft and creamy texture and is not drying on the lips. I will definitely be stocking up on this product in every shade for my professional makeup kit!
Velvet Touch Lipstick in Matt Classic Red.
The Velvet Touch Lipstick in Matte Classic Red is intensely pigmented, creamy and contains hyaluronic acid which hydrates the lips. This is a beautiful textured lipstick that I really enjoyed wearing. The colour is more of an orangey red compared to the liquid matte lips. It retails for around R140 at Edgars. It comes in a variety of shades in both matte and glossy finishes.
Boombastic Swirl Volume XXL and Boombastic Crazy Volume Mascara
I love trying new mascaras! And throughout all my trying I’ve often discovered that it’s not always the most expensive mascara that is the best. With mascara being a product that you can’t hold onto for too long (no longer than 3 or 4 months), I don’t often see the point of spending a fortune on it.
The Boombastic (I love that word ) XXL Swirl Volume mascara thickens the lashes nicely without it clumping. With the massive XXL brush I found that it lifts, adds length and separates the lashes well. The spiky tip of the brush is also useful for pushing the lashes in an upward direction.
The second mascara in the Boombastic range is the Crazy Volume Mascara. A very differently shaped brush to the XXL. The brush is flatter, but still quite large. I found this mascara volumized right at the lash line, creating fuller lashes but not necessarily longer lashes.
In this pic I’m wearing the Boombastic Swirl Volume XXL on my right eye and the Boombastic Crazy Volume Mascara on my left eye.
GOSH Black Kohl eyeliner
The next product I tried was the black Kohl liner. I have a love hate relationship with kohl liners, while it is often amazingly super black, it is also super smudgy. The upside is that you can set it with an eyeshadow after blending and smudging it for a smoky effect.
This liner is an identical charcoal black to one of the longwearing MAC liners I have and love in my kit, so this one gets a huge thumbs up from me. It glides on smoothly and is very pigmented.
I am really excited about the GOSH brand and I‘m looking forward to seeing what other awesome products will hit our shores soon.
Yay for another international makeup brand in SA! Whoop whoop!
Have you tried any GOSH makeup products and which were your favourites?
