O, The Oprah Magazine reached a milestone recently – their 10th birthday! Ten years of publishing one of South Africa’s best loved magazines deserves to be celebrated and yesterday I was able to join the editorial team and some of their most avid fans at an amazing birthday party luncheon at The Table Bay Hotel in the V&A Waterfront! I spent the afternoon in a rather glamorous setting than the usual rounds of school pick-up/ swimming lessons/ playdate etc and what a wonderful change it was!
The afternoon started off with a few pampering opportunities in the lobby for the guests – mini manicures from Sally Hansen, make-up retouches from Elizabeth Arden and, my first port of call, a neck and shoulder massages from Camelot Spa.

We then headed into the dining room for a wonderful afternoon of celebrating. The fabulous food – the rack of lamb was delicious! – was interspersed with speeches firstly by O editor, Samantha Page and then Jane Raphaely shared the story of how she pitched the South African version of O to Oprah herself – what a treat to get the insider info!

Great entertainment followed from poet, Babalwa, and a beautiful choral performance by some of the talented young ladies from The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (or OWLAG!) and an awesome A Cappela performance by D7, a group of 7 guys with great voices who got the audience tapping their toes and singing along.

Being an Oprah event there was no shortage of prizes and surprises! The beautiful cake specially made for the occasion rounded off a lovely afternoon spent chatting with friends – old and new!

I was honoured to be invited and had a wonderful time – Thank you O Magazine for another wonderful event – you sure do know how to throw a party (and to spoil a girl too – the goodie bags were amazing once again!)
