Every month I make a mental note of the things I seem to be going back to again and again and the things that have sparked joy in my day-to-day and then I share them in My 5 Favourite Finds series.
So here’s my 5 Faves for Oct…
1.Morgan Taylor Selfie Summer Collection
Nothing quite sparks joy in me than catching a glimpse of a pretty new shade of nail polish on my fingertips and this new collection from Morgan Taylor is my new fave (specially the the neon pink “Pretty as a Pink-ture” It’s so much fun!!)
The other shades in the Selfie Summer collection are:

- Me, Myself-ie, And I – a Coral Neon Shimmer
- Pretty As A Pink-ture – a Pink Neon
- Woke Up This Way – a Electric Fuchsia Neon
- Best Face Forward – a Purple Neon
- No Filter Needed – a Blue Neon
These colours are also avail as matching Gelish shades!
As you can see the collection is filled with vibrant neons including corals, pinks and purples that are set to make your summer that much brighter! (R149ea)
2. African Extracts Daily Repair Oil
I’ve been a fan of this local skincare brand for a number of years so I’m excited to share with you the newest product launch from African Extracts Rooibos that has made it’s way into my favourites very quickly!
The new Daily Repair Facial Oil from African Extracts is a winner!
It is from their anti-aging Advantage range (aimed at 35+) and is aimed at reducing the appearance of dark spots and protect the skin from environmental damage. I’ve been enjoying this daily treat as the oil is really lightweight but feels super luxurious too – the perfect oil to apply to my skin every evening before bed!
I love that the oil is non-greasy – you might not believe me but it sinks into the skin within 10 seconds leaving it feeling ultra-moisturised.
I am also a huge fan of the fact that the oil is made of 100% naturally derived ingredients including rooibos, vitamin C, vitamin E, jojoba oil and essential oils like geranium, rose, chamomile and lavender. My dry skin soaks this up and is left feeling soft and supple. Plus it smells heavenly too! (R180)
3. Sir Juice Cold Pressed juices
As we head towards summer I’m sure I’m not the only one trying to live a slightly healthier lifestyle… that means less hot chocolate and more fresh juices. The only problem is that fresh juice is such a schlep to make!! Not only do you first have to buy all the ingredients, then you have to prep them and make the juice. And then you have to clean up afterwards – the most annoying part of the process!
Fortunately Sir Juice has started making Cold Pressed Fresh Juices!! I received a few flavours to try out recently and loved having fresh juice avail in my fridge for me to enjoy at any time of the day or night! In fact they fast became my favourite way to start the day!
Raw & unheated, healthy & delicious these Cold Pressed juices are bursting with greens and goodness, plus they contain no added sugar, stabilisers, flavours or colours! Bonus!
The flavour variants are:
- Apple, beetroot, raspberry, orange, carrot and ginger
- Carrot, apple, orange, granadilla and ginger
- Apple, cucumber, spinach, kale and mint
The Sir Fruit Cold Pressed range will retail for R21.95 per 300ml and is available nationally in South Africa’s top retail stores.
4. Hygge book
I’ve recently been exploring the concept of Hygge quite a bit, the topic is probably more relevant in mid-winter, but still I find the ethos of the Hygge lifestyle embraced by the Danes to be something I wish to aspire to all year round.
I love reading, but I don’t find myself choosing to read during the week, or even on the weekends. In the busy-ness of life I find myself reading only when on holiday… and I’m not happy about it! I relish escaping into another world – but sometimes finding time to really immerse yourself in fiction can be so hard – and the easy entertainment of TV series makes it harder!
But I dived into this one with relish. I found myself choosing to read instead of work or watch or sleep! I think the reason was that this book is on a topic I am interested, it’s written in an engaging way and it was easy enough for me to dip in and out of – no major headspace required!
I’m keen to explore this topic of Hygge further and will be sure to write about my own findings over here on the blog soon, but, in the meantime, if you’re looking for an entry into the world of Hygge this is a good place to start! (R362 at Loot)
5. Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Day Cream
An ongoing quest of mine is to find a skincare range of products that are natural and organic… My preference would be to stick with one range, but the nature of my job means I have to try everything that comes across my desk… But every now and again I find one that works – for me and my preferred ethos!
This month that has been the Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Day Cream… This is bioactive skincare range is rich in EFA’s and offers Intensive Nourishing Therapy for dry skin. It contains bioactive, natural and organic ingredients such as argan oil, aloe vera leaf juice, hemp oil, vanilla fruit extracts and a variety of other natural oils and extracts.
The daily moisturiser is light but quickly absorbed. It hydrates, smoothes and moisturises my skin while protecting it from free radicals, improving firmness and nourishing the deeper levels of the skin’s epidermis allowing the skin to increase it’s own Vitamin C production.
This certified organic product is also free from parabens, preservatives, SLSs, artificial colours & fragrances. They do not test on animals making this product suitable for vegetarians and vegans. (Approx R300 at Wellness Warehouse)
