Each month I have such good intentions that I will post this on the last day of the month but time flies by and I just don’t get there! Anyway – that is the aim. Let’s hope I get it right next year….
So what were September’s 5 Favourite Finds? Here is my list of things that made my month!
1. Well Hung – car shopping bag hook.
This cleverly designed little gadget really made me smile (and not just because of the clever name) Firstly it is an extremely useful gadget for moms like me. I drive a Verso which has a lovely large boot but can be a problem when you have a a few bags of shopping. When I get home I always end up having to repack the groceries into the bags BEFORE taking them into the house as they have usually spilled and are rolling around in the boot! Not ideal. The concept is a small leather hook that you attach to the headrest poles above the boot – ideally used in a car with an open boot such as an SUV or 4×4 – and it has proved to be so helpful! I also loved the fact that this product was designed as a project by students at CPUT who thought to approach me in their marketing drive. I love that they are so entrepreneurial in their concept AND in their approach to getting their product into the right market – us moms! To find out more visit their website: www.silveracorn.co.za or the Silver Acorn Facebook Page. You can view and buy the product at ONSITE gallery, Palms Centre, Woodstock or Welmed Clinic, Oudewesthof Shopping Centre. Alternatively or your can purchase it via their online store (R80)
2. Stila Cream Blusher in Lillium
After reading about how versatile and natural a cream blusher is as opposed to a powder one, I’ve been on the hunt for a cream blush for ages now. You’ll be surprised how hard they are to come by! Eventually I discovered a very prettily packaged one on the Stila shelves of Woolies called Convertible Colour and knew I had to buy one. The colours available are all stunning which made it hard to pick just one but I finally settled on one of the newer shades called Lillium which is a rosey peachy pink. I have been LOVING my little compact. Not only does it look great in my makeup collection it is small enough to carry with me and has a convenient mirror. I’ve also taken to using it is a light lipstick too so it’s a real multi-tasking product. And what was my verdict on the blusher itself? I love the natural colour this cream blusher gives – more subtle than powder due to the power you have to blend. The sheer tint adds an pretty glow to the cheeks and lips. This product has one best cream blush with InStyle magazine every year since 2005! The only downside? I want ALL the colours! ((R255)
3. Nature Valley granola bars
I’m always on the lookout for lunch box goodies or snacks for the kids for mid-afternoon hunger pangs or even for me to pop in my bag so I can keep the hunger at bay! The world’s no 1 range of granola bars has recently arrived in SA, Nature Valley granola bars come in a variety of flavours (Oats and Honey, Canadian Maple Syrup and Oats & Chocolate – my fave) and are made from rolled wholegrain oats and baked until crispy. The delicious 2-bar packs offer people a healthy, quality snack.
The bars are free from genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), are preservative and artificial colour free and contain just 8-10 ingredients. Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars are on shelves now in the cereal aisle at most retail supermarkets. For more information visit: www.NatureValleySA.co.za (R6.49 per pouch; R35.49 per 6ct Multipack)
4. Best Breast
If you are like me (and most moms out there) there is no way you can go braless in polite company…. and as summer approaches this can be cause for concern what with weddings or beach holidays – there is so much more room for “exposure”. Recently I was introduced to a product that sounds a bit strange to begin with but after trying it out for myself I am convinced! Best Breast are clear stickers for your breasts that give you lift when you need it! No longer do you need to be concerned about not being able to wear certain outfits because your bra or bra straps are showing? Now you can wear strapless, backless, plunging and halter styles easily and comfortably – and this isn’t limited to garments. You can also use the product with swimwear as it is waterproof! I tried out the stickers at home and was pleasantly surprised about how much lift it gave me. The self-adhesive instant breast lift consists of a very thin and flexible self-adhesive foil, shaped like a horseshoe, which makes it possible to re-position the nipples by up to several centimetres. Best Breast is a great confidence booster too. Unfortunately the product is not reusable and I didn’t use mine for a special outing so will definitely be heading out to buy a set for myself to keep on hand!
The product is available from Stuttafords, Ackermans and Makro countrywide from October 2013 or can be ordered online. For more info visit www.bestbreast.co.za. (R29 – R39 for single packs, R89 – R99 for a triple pack)
5. Essence nail polish
This affordable range has recently released the new Class of 2013 range and I love the new look bottle! I tried out a pretty periwinkle blue on my nails called Blues of Being Cool and it’s a lot of fun for summer and will look great with denim jeans. (R19.95)
