My 5 Favourite Finds for July

So I’m trying to get back on track with sharing my favourite finds for the month near the actual month the post is referring to – and I’m only a week late with this post so that’s an improvement on last month!!

Let’s get cracking with which products I discovered in the month of July. My 5 Favourite Finds were…

1. The Honest Life by Jessica Alba
In my dream life my celebrity best friends are Jessica Alba and Jennifer Garner, so when I found out that Jess had published a book I knew I had to have it! What could be better than a book all about making healthy, natural choices for yourself and your family. The Honest Life covers food, cleaning, beauty, style, home, baby and general inspiration plus you get a sneaky peek inside her gorgeous and glamorous life. Yes please! I’m really enjoying dipping in and out of this beautifully presented book. (R209.99 on Loot)

2. Revlon’s New Nail Colours
One universal beauty product that is always sure to lift your spirits is nail polish – whatever bad hair, skin or weight day you’re having – when you’re looking for a way to brighten up your day, a pretty new polish can certainly help! I’ve been loving these 2 new colours from Revlon’s Colorstay range of 14 colours and have been having some fun expressing the 2 sides of my beauty personality. Passionate Pink, a fun, bright pink is perfect for everyday wear, and Bold Sangria (a dark purple) is great for a vampy vixen look! Revlon is known for making quality beauty products and their Colorstay long wear nail polishes don’t disappoint – the barrel brush gives a streak-free finish with plenty of shine! This nail polish is both quick drying and long-lasting so next time you’re in the mood for a “pick me up” purchase head to the nail polish aisle! (R99.95)

3. Greenland
I was recently introduced to this natural and organic body and bath care range at the Edgars launch I attended at the end of July. I have been trying two of their products, namely the strawberry lip balm and the coconut and tangerine hand cream and now can’t get through the day without them! Containing fruit extracts, essential oils and natural butters these products not only protect and care for your skin but treat your senses too as they all smell delicious enough to eat! (Lip Balm – R65, Hand Cream – R 95)

4. Buchu Life First Aid Gel
Since being introduced to this handy first aid gel by my daughter’s teacher I’ve not been without it! The miracle working gel is a must-have for all homes and first aid kits at work, school, in the car or handbag. It’s a natural, organic product that contains buchu extract – a rare South African Herb – and it is awesome on all sorts of skin problems and injuries such as burns, bites, bruising, scraps, cuts, even open eczema sores! Use this special “magic muti” for all sorts of kid complaints – the all-purpose gel acts as both an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory and can be safely used on open wounds or to ease joint pain or strained muscles. (R59.95 for 40g, R99.95 for 80g)

5. My tan leather bag from Green Cross

For months I have been searching high and low for the perfect tan leather handbag and finally I have found it – the holy grail of handbags!! My stunning new leather handbag in tan is perfection and I’m totally in love with it – if you can be in love with a handbag, which I’ve been told is entirely plausible! This fab bag has a zip to keep all my goodies safe from wondering hands which is one of the main things us South Africans look for when bag shopping. It’s handles are short enough to carry by hand or slug on your arm but long enough to fit on your shoulder which is a big plus for me and it’s big enough to be the perfect weekender bag too – I managed to squeeze everything required for a night in Joburg into it and was well pleased with myself! This beauty will be with me for life because aged leather only looks more awesome than new leather…. (R950)

Kathryn Rossiter

Kathryn is a South African lifestyle blogger and mom of 2 who has been blogging daily for over 9 years! She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!

  1. Always find your blog so interesting and just wanted to say your new profile pic from your ‘makeover’ is beautiful. PS Where can I get the Buchu gel?

    1. Thank you Tracy for your feedback about my blog. It’s always lovely to hear 😉 With regards to where you can buy Buchu Life – it is available at selected stores such as Pick n Pay and Sportsmans Warehouse as well as on order from pharmacies nationwide. Take a look at their website here:

  2. What awesome find Kathryn. I love that handbag. One day when I’m all grown up it is definitely something I would buy 😉 xx
