July is my birthday month so I’ve been super spoilt with some special pressies that have shot to the top of my Favourite Finds list…
So let’s get cracking!
1. West Side Story show at The Artscape Theatre
I had planned on including a review to this stunning South African show but once I started writing and inserting pics I couldn’t keep it to one paragraph or one pic, so as my very favourite find for the month it actually now has it’s own post over –> Read my West Side Story review here
2. Black Betty Earrings
I spied this pretty pair of Black Betty earrings about a year ago and sent my husband on a wild goose chase to try and track them down. To his credit he did try but I think he’d left it a bit late so wasn’t able to sort it out in time for my bday last year…. fast track 365 days later and I found myself at a little sale where the EXACT pair of earrings I loved were marked down by 50% and just days before my bday…. obviously it was MEANT TO BE, right? Anyway I helped a brother/ husband out and bought his birthday present from him to me… and have been wearing these Aqua Calcite stones ever since!
3. Jinger Jack leather handbag
At the same sale I was lucky enough to also stumble across a “steal” of a leather handbag – marked down to just R300… Have I mentioned how much the word SALE excites me?? (I pretty much can’t buy something unless it has been marked down) If you’re in the market for a new bag then you can’t go wrong with Jinger Jack. They have a stunning range of sizes and beautifully bright colours too. For now I’m loving Orlando bag. It’s almost “mushroom” in colour (I think they call this colour “Waxy Tan”) and has been working really well with my winter wardrobe of grey, navy and black.
4. Tokyo a Go Go nail polish from Morgan Taylor’s Hello Pretty! Collection
Morgan Taylor rank right up there as one of my favourite nail polish brands and I was thrilled to receive 2 of their latest colours from the Hello Pretty! range recently.
The range is due in stores in spring and it’s really bright and fun making it a great collection for the sunshiney months… I couldn’t resist adding a little bit of colour to my dull winter wardrobe so have been rocking this pretty pinky purple (called Tokyo a Go Go) for the last few days… and I can’t stop looking at my nails and LOVING them. The bright burst of colour is exactly what I need to get through these freezing cold days.
All the colours in the Hello Pretty! collection (and their equally interesting names) take inspiration from Japanese fashion!
Tokyo a Go Go is a light pinkish/purple neon creme which I mention above and is my fave of the two I got sent.
Manga-round with Me is a very bright coral neon creme – my daughter and I have both been rocking this… me on my toes. I can’t wait to be able to wear some summery sandals so I can show this shade off!
Pop-arazzi Pose is a hot pink neon creme.
Do You Harajuku? is a mint green with pale blue shimmer.
Look at You, Pink-achu! is a bubblegum pink neon creme. A very “Barbie” pink!
Anime-zing Color! is a dark purple neon creme.
The collection of Morgan Taylor and matching Gelish colours will be available September 2015 at salons, spas and retail outlets nationwide (including Sorbets and Dischems)
Morgan Taylor nail lacquer retails at R123 and a Gelish application ranges at about R200 per treatment.
5. Jax Teller
Wahaha – yes my latest favourite find is Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy TV series! We’ve just started watching the first series and I’m hooked. Although it’s not my usual type of TV series – I prefer the Grey’s Anatomy and Downton Abbey sorts – I am enjoying it… OK so there is quite a bit of violence (which I’m told gets worse) which means I will have to gauge it as we go along. I don’t want to fill my head with too much of it, but for now I’m enjoying having a series that is gripping me, esp during the cold winter nights when I can indulge in episode after episode under my blanket while drinking some hot chocolate!
I was recently sent a Vidal Sassoon Infra Radiance Curler to review on my site. But unfortunately, after many attempts, I am ridiculously bad at getting it to work!! Even after watching loads of “How-to” videos on YouTube I still feel like a completely un-coordinated fool…
Anyway if you’re in the market for a new curling iron I thought I should mention to you that this particular one has had rave reviews from better beauty bloggers than I… (read Luzanne at Pink Peonies review here) It’s currently on sale at Clicks for under R200 which is a complete steal!
In fact the complete collection of Vidal Sassoon hair styling tools are currently marked down in stores including their Infra Radiance Hairdryer and Infra Radiance Straightener that both also feature Infra Radiance technology which means each of the products are a lot kinder on hair as heat is delivered more evenly, helping to prevent hot spots, maintain natural moisture balance and promote shine. Now I’m thinking I should have opted to try the dryer rather – at least I know how to use that!! Haha
