We interrupt this Wednesday morning to bring you some breaking news: I am taking part in a sporting event! Yes, I know don’t fall off your chair π When I received the invite from Mr Price Sport last week to take part in the inaugural BlogOlympics taking place today in Durban I knew I would be a bit out of my comfort zone but that it was an opportunity not to be missed! So this morning at the crack of dawn I will be joining various sports and lifestyle bloggers from across South Africa and winging our way to sunny Durbs (which I haven’t visited since I was 17!)
Mr Price Sport will be hosting the country’s first ever BlogOlympics at Moses Mabhida Stadium and the day will consist of a series of eight events that teams from Joburg, Cape Town and Durban will compete in. These include “Zoopery”, an obstacle course relay race, and a frisbee tossing competition. The winners of each event will be awarded gold medals and points towards their home city’s ranking, with the overall winners in the men and women’s divisions receiving a BlogOlympian trophy. EEEEK – I’m hoping I don’t bring down our total… I’m by no means an athlete (except for that one 400m race I won – in Std 9!) and some of the other competitors have run the Comrades Marathon (Tanya from Rattle & Mum) or taken part in the Olympics (Wade Paton, SA Hockey Player) Heaven help me!!
All eight events that make up the BlogOlympics make use of the Promaster range that is currently available in Mr Price Sport stores. These include the Afrisack, the Waboba Ball, the Zooper Ball, and the Super Frisbee. Each of the toys in the range has been included in events that will test our skill in various disciplines, while bringing a light-hearted element to the competition – eg. everyone will be laughing at me π
